Psychologist, HCPC - Clin. Psych.

I have experience working in both NHS and private settings and draw on approaches including Compassion-Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, trauma-informed work, and CBT.
I’m Dr Luke, a HCPC-registered Clinical Psychologist offering online therapy across the UK. I work with people who feel stuck, overwhelmed, or highly self-critical, often during periods of change in health, work, or relationships. Many of the people I help are thoughtful and capable on the outside, yet struggle internally with pressure, doubt, or feeling disconnected from what really matters to them. Therapy can offer a space to slow things down, make sense of patterns, and begin living more in line with your values.

Everyone can go through a challenging time and we all do it in our own way. You might find it challenging or relieving to talk to a professional and either could work. My sessions offer a safe and non-judgemental space to explore how we both can work together so you can get the most benefit from the therapy. I believe every person deals with their situations differently and therefore I apply an integrative approach to suit your needs. Some of the various approaches I use are Person Centred, EMDR, CBT, Gestalt, Psychodynamic and more.

I am an experienced therapist and supervisor. As a therapist, I hold a warm, inclusive space for deep personal growth. Together we will explore different ways of looking at things while also exploring how you got to where you are to begin with. I want to help you uncover your inner strengths, gain new insights, and hone the skills you need in order to live the life you desire. Not all work is about the past; sometimes the focus is on acquiring practical skills in the here and now to face new challenges. Meeting you where you are, even if you are nervous and unsure, I don’t rely on a “one-size-fits-all” approach to healing.

You’re probably functioning well by most measures. You show up with family and at work, you deliver, you hold things together. But you haven’t slept properly in a long time and the gap between how you look and how you actually feel is getting harder to sustain. The 3am wake. The mind that won’t stop. The moments where you’re just not yourself with the people who matter most. Some of the people I work with are also teenagers referred by their parents, who have tried everything available to them and are still watching their capable, driven young person quietly unravel ahead of exams, worried about what this might mean for them.

You may be feeling stuck - you’ve tried to stop using porn or another damaging sexual behaviour but your will power keeps failing and you find yourself going in circles, of secrecy, shame & hopelessness. The behaviours now seem like its taken the wheel and firmly in the driving seat of your life. You may even be wondering how things ever got this far. If you’re in a relationship, it’s probably suffering. Even if no one else knows, you do and what may have started as a bit of fun is now causing you pain. There is hope. Many of our wounds are formed in relationships, so it makes sense that healing should also come through one.

Using evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Compassion Focused Therapy, and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), I help clients understand not just what is happening, but why—so change feels meaningful, not temporary.
Hi, I’m Hannah. I’m a Clinical Psychologist and EMDR practitioner with 8 years experience across NHS mental health services and private practice. I work with adults who may appear to be coping on the outside—managing careers, relationships, families, and responsibilities—yet internally feel overwhelmed, anxious, self-critical, or stuck in patterns they can’t seem to shift. I help people with: anxiety and chronic stress, burnout and emotional exhaustion, perfectionism and self criticism, confidence and self-worth, relationship and communication patterns, life, career, and identity transitions.

Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Counsellors
How does acceptance and commitment therapy work?
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy encourages a person to listen to their self-talk. A person’s inner dialog can be indicative of how they treat themselves. ACT also encourages self-compassion; this can lead to a better understanding of negative thought patterns and emotional states. This understanding can then lead the individual to needed behavior change.

What are the goals of acceptance and commitment therapy?
The goal of acceptance and commitment is to expand a person’s psychological flexibility, a trait that encourages an individual to live in the present moment and to accept all their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, even ones that are difficult such as sadness and anxiety. In ACT, this acceptance is congruent with the individual’s values and beliefs.

Does acceptance and commitment therapy work for depression?
Acceptance and commitment therapy is effective for depression because it allows the individual to view their discomfort and suffering differently. Depressive feelings about relationship heartaches, for example, are a part of life. A despondent person learns to let go of their struggles and instead view their painful thoughts and feelings with compassion. This will lead the individual toward positive change.

How long are people typically in acceptance and commitment therapy?
A typical acceptance and commitment therapy session is 50 minutes long with one session per week. Treatment for common problems such as anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties can last between eight weeks to four months. However, more severe cases may require more than one session a week and/or a longer time frame for treatment.
