If you are feeling anxious, depressed, have experienced trauma or loss, or there are simply too many life-events happening at once, come and talk to me. Discussing your thoughts will help to put them into perspective and make them feel less overwhelming. Often, we don't like to approach those closest to us as we may feel they might judge us by what we say, or be offended or upset. This is the time when talking to a therapist is most beneficial. I will be there to help you review your feelings, understand their basis, and find the best way to improve your situation.

Let it be anxiety, depression, parenthood, general worries, grief or another specific theme that you have in mind, nothing is too little to be explored in therapy. Taking the first step towards entering therapy might not always be easy, being vulnerable in front of a stranger might be intimidating. My goal as a therapist is to give clients a safe, empathic, warm and non-judgemental space so that we can speak freely and you can have the psychological support you need, may this be in a short-term therapy concept or longer term.

I'm an experienced EMDR Therapist, Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist - level 7 (MSc) in CBT, Person Centred and Attachment Theory( Psychodynamic).
My approach to therapy is friendly, respectful & totally non-judgemental. Primarily I use an Integrative Therapy based on TTM ( Transtheoretical Model of Change) based (between others) on your goals, readiness to change and the fact that ‘no one type of therapy fits all’. Psychoeducation about your symptoms, coping strategies ( CBT and Mindfulness') will improve your everyday life and if you feel ready to work on the 'the roots' of the current difficulties- EMDR, Counselling and Attachment Theory would be something to explore. I adjust therapy to my clients and not the other way around.

I am trained in integrative psychotherapeutic counselling, which provided me with a foundational set of skills in person-centred counselling, psychodynamic psychotherapy, Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy ( CBT), Existential psychotherapy. I use elements from all four disciplines, and have since completed a course in Dialetical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). I favour Existential psychotherapy but apply elements of CBT as a means of practicing behavioural changes.

If you struggle to fall asleep, can't stay asleep, wake up too early or wake up feeling unrefreshed, then I can help you. I studied insomnia at the University of Oxford and started helping people with their sleeping problems at Trouble Sleeping in 2006 with CBT-I. I take a thorough medical and sleep history to discover why you aren't sleeping well, and then I suggest specific tailored cognitive and behavioural changes to help you to overcome your sleep issues. I am also the author of the self-help sleep book, Navigating Sleeplessness.

Cognitive Behavioural (CBT) Counsellors
How does cognitive behavioural therapy work?
Cognitive behavioural therapy works by exploring how your thoughts affect your emotions and experiences. CBT helps you identify distortions in your thinking. For example, you may tend to jump to the worst case scenario catastrophising or think in extremes (all-or-nothing thinking). A therapist can teach you how to push back against those thoughts to ultimately change your feelings and behavior for the better. They can also provide coping skills to better deal with stressors and challenges.
When do I know to seek treatment with cognitive behavioural therapy?
It’s reasonable to consider cognitive behavioural therapy if you struggle to manage difficult emotions or behaviors to such an extent that you are not getting the most out of life on a day-to-day basis. If you want a shorter term, concrete, skills-based approach, CBT is a great option. (By contrast, other types of therapy may devote more time to exploring your past and its effects.) The decision to seek CBT also depends on the condition you’re treating; CBT is an effective treatment for anxiety, depression, trauma, and many other disorders.
How can I find a cognitive behavioural therapist for someone else?
To find a cognitive behavioural therapist for someone else, you may want to begin by discussing the person’s problem, researching cognitive behavioural therapy, and assessing whether the approach is the right fit. You could then reach out to a few cognitive behavioral therapists in this directory, explain the scenario, have a consultation with those available, and determine who could be a good match.
Why is CBT such a popular form of therapy?
CBT has become a popular form of therapy because it is effective and accessible. Robust research has demonstrated that CBT is an effective treatment for many mental health conditions. And CBT can be learned in relatively few sessions, which means that many people can engage in the process, afford it, and see results quickly. It involves learning concrete skills such as disputing unhelpful thoughts; these skills can also be taught and spread widely.
