Perhaps you have been struggling for a while - longer than you might admit. You may be caught in cycles of anxiety or low mood that feel impossible to break, or living with intrusive thoughts that are exhausting to manage. Perhaps you are navigating the emotional challenges of pregnancy or new parenthood, or carrying difficult experiences from the past that still affect you today. You have tried to cope alone. You want something structured and evidence-based - not just to talk, but to understand what is keeping you stuck and learn practical tools to change it. You are ready to do the work.

Adaptations available for autistic or ADHD traits.
Perhaps you've been struggling for a while — probably longer than you might admit. You may be caught in cycles of anxiety that feel impossible to break: constant worry, panic attacks, intrusive thoughts, or compulsive behaviours. Perhaps you're living with the aftermath of trauma or loss that still affects you today. Or you're exhausted by low mood and self-doubt that gets in the way of the life. It’s not easy managing alone. I have over 5 years NHS experience helping people better understand their thoughts and what's keeping them stuck, and to learn practical tools to change. Whatever your goals, we can walk the journey together.

As a neurodivergent ( autistic, ADHD & dyspraxia) person myself, I really enjoy working with those exploring their own neurodivergence.
I’m Matt, I’m a qualified therapist and counsellor. I’m a real human and will bring my warmth, humour, care, honesty and acceptance to our sessions. I am specialised in the person-centred approach, which puts our relationship at the centre of therapy. We will work together to understand you, to help you process and to help you feel better within yourself. Who you choose as your therapist is a really personal choice. Probably the most important aspect of therapy is a good relationship between the therapist and the client. Really it’s about who you like, who you connect with and crucially who you feel that you can trust.

Hi I'm Jen, as an autistic therapist I understand first-hand how exhausting it can be to navigate a world designed for neurotypical ways of thinking and communicating.
Feeling like you don't belong in this world is a familiar feeling to me, I do not always fit well into most peoples normal. I can fully empathise with feelings of alienation, despair and not good enough. I'm proud to be able to offer all my clients a sense of belonging, and calm, to feel understood, heard and most of all accepted for who you are.

I work with adults who have ADHD or are wondering whether ADHD may explain the challenges they've experienced throughout life. Many have spent years feeling misunderstood, overwhelmed, or different from others. Some have recently received a diagnosis, while others are only just beginning to explore the possibility that ADHD may be part of their story. Many clients come to me after years of struggling with anxiety, emotional overwhelm, burnout, relationship difficulties, or feeling that life is harder than it should be. Often, they've developed coping strategies that helped them get through day-to-day life but no longer serve them.

Hello and welcome. I understand it can be daunting to seek the support of a stranger, and that many factors may have led you to do so. We can all feel overwhelmed, confused, distressed, lonely or hurt at times; perhaps we sense that something doesn’t feel “right”, or that the challenges life throws at us are too great to cope with. Sometimes we need someone to witness and be alongside us in our pain, stress, confusion, distress, or lack of ease - however we experience it. I am an integrative psychotherapeutic counsellor, offering a warm and compassionate space for you to work with the issues or challenges that you wish to explore.

I am a Systemic and Gestalt counsellor and a registered member of the BACP and I aim to offer a safe and non-judgemental space for clients to explore their feelings. I work with adults and young people. Sometimes we all need help to cope with life's challenges. Therapy can provide the support and framework from which to begin gaining an understanding of yourself and your needs. Talking with a therapist can benefit us in many ways, including giving us a better understanding of our emotions. Therapy can also promote healthy coping mechanisms, improved relationships and achievement of goals.

Hi there, thanks for viewing my profile. I'm a relationally focussed counsellor-this means I work hard to get to know you, and understand what makes you tick. We will use the relationship we develop between us to explore what it's like to be you. I understand how powerful it can feel to be truly seen, heard and understood in the world. This is my main aim in working with clients. I enjoy working with people around big questions, and helping people discover their own sense of direction and focus. I'm also skilled and experienced in working with trauma, anxiety, depression, and questions around sexuality, gender and identity.

What is the most effective treatment for autism?
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) has come to be considered the standard treatment for children with autism spectrum disorder, and research has confirmed its effectiveness for many children. Therapists trained in ABA techniques work with children (and their parents) on developing social skills, communication and learning abilities, and everyday habits of hygiene and grooming. The clinician will tailor their program to the child’s particular need but the overarching goal will be to help them advance as far as possible toward independence based on their level of symptoms and decrease the need for additional special services. Families should seek a mental health professional specifically trained in ABA, and holding special certification in the technique, who has extensive experience not only with the approach but in using it with children with the same level of symptoms as the child who needs care.

How does ABA work?
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) sessions, which typically focus on positive reinforcement, can be intensive, lasting two or more hours several times a week, and continuing for two years or more. Therapists can also be expected to ask parents to take an active role in reinforcing lessons. Research has found that the technique can lead to major improvements that decrease the need for additional special services.

How does treatment for autism work?
Therapy sessions based on Applied Behavior Analysis will likely be frequent, intensive, and highly structured. After a thorough assessment, a therapist will help a child understand and develop skills in a range of areas, including communication, motor skills, social skills, self-care, play, and academic skills, as well as routines of daily living like hygiene. Typically, the therapist will help a child break down the components of a behavior—often referred to as the antecedent (what prompts an action), the behavior, and the consequence(what immediately follows)—and then reward the child at every step, while also asking parents to reinforce the lessons, and the rewards, throughout the day. This core therapy may be supplemented by occupational or speech therapy, and antidepressants, antipsychotics, and anticonvulsants may be prescribed to address specific severe symptoms.

How long does therapy for autism take?
Some people with autism spectrum disorder may be engaged in some level of therapy for many years, but research shows that treatment will be most effective if it is begun early and delivered intensively. When therapy begins by age 3, children tend to be better able to grasp and adopt the skills needed to manage everyday life, including attending school and establishing social relationships. This type of early-intervention treatment regimen is highly structured, typically involving 20 to 40 hours of one-on-one therapy per week, along with additional hours of engagement managed by parents, for a period of two years or more, although the duration of treatment is dependent on the child’s level of symptoms and pace of progress.
