I work with relationship issues, anxiety, depression, gender, identity, LGBTQ+ issues and trauma.
Acknowledging that you are struggling to cope with the daily life is hard and the first step to taking control of your life. Often people don’t feel that their problems are worth contacting a therapist about, as "others have it worse" and try to push the uncomfortable feelings away. Therapy isn't about blaming yourself or passing responsibility it's about working together with another individual to validate your experiences and understand your past patterns of behaviour. We will then work together to help you make positive changes for a more fulfilled life. I am a therapist and supervisor and work with teens and adults.

Hi, my name is Nick. Have you lost your usual motivational energy to face the day ahead and the challenges this may bring? Do you always put other's needs before your own; forgetting what is important for you? Do you know something doesn't feel right, but you're not sure why? If 'yes', then I can help you to find your answers.

Anxiety lives alongside relationship strain.
Some people arrive knowing exactly what's wrong. Most don't. They just know something has to change.
They're tired of going round in circles. Tired of the same arguments, the same feelings, the same version of themselves showing up. Couples who love each other but can't seem to get it right. Individuals who look fine from the outside but aren't. Professionals who are brilliant at their job and falling apart at home.
I work with couples using Emotionally Focused Therapy, and with individuals at their own pace, to help you understand what's actually driving the pattern you're stuck in, and find a way through it together.

You may be suffering from anxiety, depression, the effects of trauma, addiction or be experiencing any other mental health difficulty.
I use a variety of approaches as a therapist to suit your specific needs. My philosophy is to 'do what works' - and by implication to stop doing what doesn't work. My approach often involves a deep dive into your past, to try and work out the patterns and 'scripts' you are running (often out of awareness) and to update them to suit you better.

Neurodiversity-Affirming Therapy for People (16+)
If you're autistic, have ADHD, or are dyslexic, you may have faced challenges that neurotypical people don't encounter as often — depression, anxiety, trauma, or bullying.
I offer a safe, understanding space to explore what neurodiversity means for you—whether you're considering pursuing a diagnosis, processing a recent one, or learning how to adapt your life to better honour your needs. Having navigated the Educational Health Care Plan process myself, I understand what it's like to advocate for the support you deserve.

Are you looking for a neurodivergent therapist? I have a special interest in working with late diagnosed neurodivergent adults (Autism/ADHD/AuDHD) or if you are questioning your neurodivergent identity. From my own lived experience, I strongly relate to people who have felt misunderstood and experienced difficulties with fitting in with others. You may be hiding your struggles behind a mask which can be exhausting to maintain in the long term. Now might be the time to slow down and reconnect with your authentic self.

Your 20s and 30s are often framed as “the best years of your life”. It’s a time of lots of change, self-discovery and forging your own path, but it comes with so many pressures and expectations. Perhaps you’re feeling stuck or lost, and lacking purpose and direction because you don’t know who you really are or what you want out of life. Maybe you’re struggling with difficult feelings, or have noticed there are unhealthy patterns playing out in your relationships. You might want to learn how to set and maintain new boundaries, communicate more effectively, and build your self-esteem. If any of this resonates for you, I can help.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.
What are the most common types of treatment for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioural therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioural Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.
How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.
How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
