If you're feeling depressed or anxious and can't seem to shift this state of mind no matter what you try, or you feel like you can't get control of your 'self' in some fundamental way, then you might like to try IFS therapy. This gives clients a model for working with their own minds which can be used both in therapy and in daily life. It puts you easily back in the driving seat – and after years of feeling that there's nothing you can do about the moods that tend to sweep over you, that can be a huge relief.

Life can be difficult and we may find ourselves struggling and feeling anxious, depressed and unconfident. We may find ourselves battling with the feelings evoked by loss, due to bereavement, relationship breakdown or even the children leaving home. Counselling is not a magic cure, but talking to an empathic, skilled therapist can help; fostering both the processing of difficult feelings and resilience to better deal with what life throws at us, enabling us to move forward. The effect of just being listened to by those who have hitherto struggled to be heard can be both powerful and empowering.

I can provide support and guidance for women experiencing this sometimes challenging transition, and I can offer guidance and education for families and workplaces to further support women during this time.
Anxiety, depression, trauma, menopause – they all suck! I know because I’ve been where you are right now. And what you’re looking for is a way out of the dark space you’re in, right? So doesn’t it make sense to be guided by someone who knows the way? Who has been there and done it themselves? Nothing gives me more joy than guiding people along a path that has been trodden by not just me, but many others just like you!

Very often women accept ‘sex’ is something they used to do when I strongly believe we deserve to enjoy pleasure and to be pleasured.
I truly understand talking about sex can be daunting. I work in a very intuitive, creative way, and each session is unique. Together we explore your hopes, dreams, fears, disappointments, hurt, shame, guilt. We gain a full picture of your current concerns and circumstances, and any related factors and history to help assist our our understanding.

However, I specialise in people who have experienced narcissistic abuse, relational trauma or CPTSD, female autism, boarding school survivors and weight loss.
You may be struggling at the moment with relationships or life in general. Perhaps you feel confused about yourself and the other - unsure about whether you are being reasonable or whether it is ok to feel upset or angry. You may put on a mask when dealing with others, terrified of being seen as your authentic self. Perhaps you like people but find them draining after a while. Or you may have experienced abuse, verbal abuse, or bullying in either your family of origin, your workplace or your romantic relationships. Or you may just have a hunch that something's not right or feel that there is something wrong with you.

I would like to work with you as your ‘wing woman’, helping you to 'unravel' your thoughts and feelings.
As an ex-midwife I am aware of the importance of creating a safe place when someone is scared and vulnerable. Sharing your innermost thoughts and feelings is scary and I understand this. I will put you at ease and ensure that you are able to use your voice, be heard and move forward without fear of shame or judgment.

Does this sound familiar? You're successful, driven, and accomplished—so why does food feel like the one thing you can't get control over? You start each day with good intentions, but by evening, you’re eating in a way that feels completely disconnected from what you really want. You promise to be "good" tomorrow, only to find yourself stuck in the same cycle. I want you to know: You are not broken. Your struggles with food aren’t about willpower—they run deeper than that. If years of dieting, self-control, and guilt haven’t worked, I can help.

Equally men and women of many backgrounds have a hard time too, I'm here to help you also.
I try to make therapy as available to as many people as I possible can. The cost of therapy can be quite steep so I keep my prices as low as I can so that more can access it. Therapy is about getting to where you want to be by making your own unique road map, so that you can use it again in the future if need be. I'm an Addiction Psychologist by trade, with 18 years of private practise behind me, but a lot of my work is helping many different age groups with problems such as OCD and PTSD etc. Please feel free to contact me and we can have a chat to see if i can be any help to you.

Previously I have worked as a trauma counsellor - predominately with young girls and women who have experienced sexual violence, rape and childhood abuse.
Everyone is an individual who experiences life and the issues it throws, in very different ways. No 'one' sure way fits all - that is my Moto. We are individuals. Whatever anyone is feeling they shouldn't believe that they can "just cope" because everyone else seems to be doing ok. Its all relative! Depression/anxiety/stress/ lack of self worth and esteem are all problems in todays society and many suffer in silence. You don't need to. Often by talking and getting your problems out in the open is the first step to healing. Their voice to be heard and feelings to be listened to. Trust and the therapeutic relationship are key.

Female Counsellors

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or because they feel more comfortable with a therapist of their own gender due to shared life experiences or perspectives. Considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender may matter or improve their therapeutic experience. The most important consideration is that a client is able to build a trusting relationship with their therapist.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist. For women, this could be because they believe that they will be able to better connect with a woman, and that a female therapist will be able to relate to their specific challenges and personal issues. It may be particularly beneficial for women to see a female therapist, for example, for gender-specific issues, such as sexism in the workplace, relationship issues, and gender roles. The most important factor in therapy is the client-therapist connection, and a therapist's gender as well as many other factors may play an important role in this.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
