with eating disorders I may use more practical interventions than in my grief or relationship work.
If you change nothing, nothing changes but it can be hard to know where to begin. I feel it starts with you being heard and valued. Having your story and your feelings witnessed and validated is extraordinarily powerful and provides the catalyst for change. You will gain a clarity and a sense of perspective as well as an understanding of why you behave in the way you do. Talking to me will feel different from talking to a friend or family member. I will offer you insights and reflections, not opinions or solutions. I am interested in you and your experiences and they matter to me, but as I'm not involved I can remain objective.

Are you struggling with a relationship or juggling the competing demands of your private and professional life? Are you feeling stuck and uncertain about how to fulfil your potential? Have you recently lost someone close to you? I first sought help as a young mother and the benefits were so enormous, I chose to train as a psychotherapist myself. I work one-to-one and with couples, helping you to identify patterns in your relationship with others, and with yourself, and establishing ways of changing those patterns that do not serve you.

If you're feeling anxious or overwhelmed, struggling with a difficult life event, your relationships or sense of self, I offer a warm and supportive space for you to better understand yourself. I often work with women who feel they've lost themselves beneath the roles they fulfil; are navigating motherhood, relationship changes, career changes or menopause; are emotionally exhausted; want to understand why they think, feel and respond the way they do; and are curious about how childhood relationships continue to shape their adult selves.

I work with individuals who feel disconnected from their authentic selves - perhaps you're feeling stuck, lacking direction, or missing purpose in your life. You might be struggling with past experiences that still affect you today, finding it hard to stay motivated, or feeling uncertain about your future path. Many of my clients initially believe they are the problem, carrying the weight of their struggles internally. If you recognise yourself in these words, know that you're not alone, and that what you're experiencing deserves to be heard and understood.

I am especially experienced with traumatic bereavement, through personal experience and having volunteered for three years at a Bereavement Service, supporting people following difficult losses, such as suicide.
Often our difficulties have roots in our early relationships and traumatic experiences, which take time to become aware of and process. As a Gestalt therapist I pay particular attention to your experience in the present moment, especially your embodied experience, as I work with the understanding that everything important from our past is here now.

Life often feels messy. Sometimes we can get trapped in a storm of thoughts, feelings, and behaviours that we just can't figure out how to move through, and we can be left feeling frustrated and helpless. I really understand that, it can be unbearable to feel this way and we can feel worse for not knowing how to 'fix' it. The truth is that you don't need to be fixed, trust me on this. Instead, you are likely at a point where you could do with the right support and guidance to help you listen to what's happening within, and come to understand it in a different way that allows you to move forward.

I help with anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, grief, and relationship challenges.
Life can be hard at times, and you may find yourself struggling with painful emotions, anxiety, or a difficult relationship with yourself. You might feel stuck, disconnected, or unsure why things feel so heavy, even if you can’t point to one clear reason. People come to see me for many different reasons, but often with a shared sense that something in their inner world or relationships has become painful or hard to navigate alone. I aim to offer a calm, thoughtful space where we can slow things down, make sense of what’s going on, and explore your experience at a pace that feels right for you.

Creating a safe and secure environment is paramount, enabling children the freedom to explore at their own pace is so important. My primary aim is to first build upon a trusting therapeutic relationship. It is through this foundation, I believe, that will path the way to the child growing emotionally. I will seek to build their confidence, helping them to believe in who they are and knowing that they have the tools in which to help themselves.

How long does therapy take for grief?
There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?
Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?
Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?
Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
