I can support you to overcome these challenges, as well as relational trauma and abuse, racial trauma, grief, low self-esteem, and life transitions. I offer a compassionate space for us to explore what you have experienced in life, how these experiences shaped you, and how you can make comfortable changes that support you to live a joyful, balanced, inspired, and fulfilling life.

Therapy offers different things to different people. For some, it’s a safe and supportive space to share what’s on their mind and to truly feel heard. Others come with specific experiences or challenges they’d like to explore, or a wish to better understand themselves and their relationships. Some people come simply with a feeling of unease or overwhelm, without knowing exactly what they need. Whatever brings you to therapy, we can take the time to understand it together.

The people I see are "too complex" for services, "Not stable enough" for therapy or have physical symptoms which have been labelled "functional" or "Medically unexplained". They are people who want to live their lives on their terms, not dictated by trauma, distress or functional physical symptoms.

Do you feel constantly under pressure? Perhaps you’re the person that everyone relies on: the leader having to make high-stakes decisions, the professional who looks “fine” while feeling increasingly burnt out or the creative visionary expected to keep delivering in the face of depression or past trauma. You might be a student dealing with anxiety from the weight of expectations you face, and worried about your future in an uncertain world. Whoever you are, there is hope. When the patterns that once made you successful start to feel like a cage, I can help you transform.

There is no right or wrong reason for seeking counselling. It can help individuals learn, grow and understand. It can help people to make sense of circumstances or emotions that they are experiencing. It can offer an opportunity to explore and speak about things which simply aren’t talked about with anyone else. It can be helpful, informative, challenging and emotional. It can be whatever you need it to be. Our work together is driven by you; your experience, your preferences, your needs and your goals. I will seek to understand you and your experiences and what you hope to be different once our work together ends.

If you want to change your situation on the outside, it’s good to start by looking at what you can change on the inside. Perhaps you have serious difficulties finding peace and joy in your life. Your sense of well-being, physically and mentally, may be reduced or destroyed. You might find yourself sliding into unhealthy or even self-destructive behaviours. Your persistent self-doubt leads to anxiety and depression, causing relationship problems and anger issues. You have a feeling that you do not quite know who you are. Or perhaps you just know “something is not quite right in my life” but you can’t pinpoint what it is.

Many of my clients are people who have lived with emotional or mental health challenges and are ready to find a gentler way forward. They may feel weighed down by the past, unsure how it has shaped their choices, yet hopeful for something different.
What my clients long for is understanding, compassion, and a safe space to be heard without judgement. Their goals are often to accept their past with kindness, reconnect with what matters most, and create a more present, fulfilling, and balanced life.

You’re running on empty.. again. You’ve been trying to keep your head above water, trying to keep it all together, but behind the scenes, you’re exhausted. One minute you’re hyper focused and smashing through tasks, the next you can’t even face leaving the house. Your mind never switches off and the guilt of “not doing enough” just keeps piling on. Living with ADHD, anxiety or depression can feel like you’re constantly chasing balance but never quite finding it. You’re tired of just existing, you just want a life you can be content with.

You may feel anxious and be aware of your anxiety, or you may be constantly fatigued and exhausted, not knowing why that is. It's possible that you suddenly feel tearful or even breathless and cannot compose yourself. It might be a constant undercurrent of a tense feeling in your body and mind, and it has a significant influence on your life. By looking closer at the reasons behind anxiety and how it shows up in different ways, we can work toward more calm, clarity, and resilience.
If you feel the pressure to be perfect or heroic, know that I see you. Self-criticism only pulls you further away from yourself, leaving you scattered.

Hello,
My name is Jeanette and I am a clinical psychologist working across the NHS and offering private therapy. I have worked with clients literally across the lifespan from conception within a perinatal service, through childhood and adolescence into adulthood, then onto older adults. I feel very privileged to hear people's stories and what they are able to share regarding their issues/worries/challenges with me. I do not take this connection with the clients I work with for granted - I feel honoured to work therapeutically with clients to find a positive outcome or resolution for them to resume a quality of living.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
Counsellors and Psychotherapists listed in the directory are members of the main professional associations, mainly the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). Most Psychologists in the directory are accredited members of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and/or are registered in the Health and Care Professions Council (HPCP).
Providers whose professional membership or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Given that professional memberships are not a statutory requirement for psychotherapists and counsellors in the UK, certain qualified professionals or organisations may choose not to maintain such memberships despite possessing the necessary qualifications. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counsellor?
Counsellors, psychotherapists and psychologists can all provide counselling or talking therapy and have credentials and experience that enable them to do so in the UK. Psychologists have earned a degree in psychology and many are members of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and have completed a postgraduate qualification in a specialism. Counsellors and Psychotherapists are not required to have a psychology degree, but to belong to a professional organisation such as the BACP or UKCP, they are required to have completed a training course as well as clinical and supervision hours.
What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
How much does therapy cost?
The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the UK could be between £30 - £60 when seeing a counsellor and £60 - £150 and up when seeing a clinical psychologist. If you have private insurance, your plan may cover some if not all of your sessions. You should contact your insurance provider to determine if they provide coverage for therapy sessions and to determine what, if any, requirements they might have in order for your sessions to be covered, such as a referral from your GP or medical specialist.
What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?
Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.
If you are struggling to access therapy due to budget constraints, you could also consider public funded mental health services. The NHS Talking therapies programme offers free of charge counselling for common mental health problems like anxiety and depression. The service is available to anyone registered with a GP, though you do not necessarily need to be referred by your GP and can refer yourself directly to a Talking therapies service. The service will provide different solutions, including group and individual therapy, for a limited number of sessions which are generally up to six.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postcode.
Are therapy sessions confidential?
Therapists who are part of a professional organisation such as the BACP, the UKCP, or BPS are bound by an ethical framework that requires them to uphold a confidentiality agreement. Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship and only under specific circumstances, such as when there has been participation in a criminal act or act of terror, or if there is potential or known harm to the client or others, will a therapist be obligated to break the agreement. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed during the initial consultation.
