It’s scary admitting to yourself that you need help; and that you’re struggling with whatever is causing you to feel unhappy, dysregulated or distressed. Due to stigma, people feel that they can only access therapy when they are at breaking point; when in fact you can access therapy whenever you need to. My background is in working with abuse survivors, and those who have experienced trauma. As a result I work with narcissism, depression, low self esteem, shame, loneliness, hopelessness, grief & loss, anger, self harm and suicidal feelings as well as a broad range of other factors and experiences clients bring to their sessions.

Hello, thank you for taking time to read my profile, in doing so you've already taken a step towards finding support. My training is in the person-centred approach, which puts the client at the centre of the work we do together. Aspects of the approach are valuing, being genuine, with the counsellor striving to understand your world and experiencing. In life there are times when it becomes hard to cope with the difficulties, worries that come along and we feel the need for someone to listen outside of our family and friends. I offer a confidential, welcoming, relaxing space where you can be yourself, one where we explore your needs.

As a professional creative arts therapist I offer therapy through conversation and/or creativity. Saying what needs to be said, facing what needs to be faced takes courage. Moving at your pace we make sense of your world. Creative practice can be soothing with the potential to bring forward that which is out of awareness. No creative skills are needed.

Are you feeling stuck, lost, or overwhelmed, perhaps you are navigating a major life transition or quietly carrying old wounds? Are you questioning your identity, recovering from trauma, or longing for a sense of belonging and connection? Often, after spending much of our life caring for others or keeping things together, we can find ourselves exhausted, uncertain, or disconnected from who we are. You may be seeking clarity, healing, or simply a space where you can finally bring your full, unfiltered self without judgement.

I am happy to offer face to face or online sessions.
As humans, life can feel a bit messy for us all at times. We all experience a wide array of emotions on this journey called life, but there are times when we feel more stressed, overwhelmed, or lower in mood than usual and for longer periods of time. This can be difficult to navigate through by yourself, so you may feel talking therapy could be helpful to help understand and explore what may be going on and to help you move forward. Building awareness of our behaviours and thought processes isn’t always easy and is often avoided, but with support and compassion, I can sit with you through it.

I offer therapy sessions in person, online and via telephone.
If anxiety is getting in the way of you living your life the way you want to, we can work together to change that. Anxiety can creep up on us and there doesn't need to have been a big trigger for it to have a real impact on our lives. I work with people to overcome a range of anxiety based difficulties and have a particular interest in supporting people with OCD, phobias and panic attacks. Cognitive behavioural therapy can help you understand your anxiety, become less fearful of it and find ways to tackle it. Therapy can also help you to recognise what you are already doing that is helpful - there is always more than you think!

Time to address something in your life? Perhaps you’ve been depressed or anxious, fearful, grieving or stuck. Maybe you’re struggling with relationships or something has happened in your life that you need to deal with and understand. I’ll listen to you carefully to understand why you’ve chosen to come to therapy and maybe even help clarify what it is that is troubling you. My aim will be to help you feel safe, valued, accepted and understood.

You may be feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or frustrated by patterns that keep repeating despite your best efforts to change. Perhaps anxiety, low mood, or the impact of past experiences is affecting how you feel about yourself, your relationships, or your parenting. Many people come to therapy wanting to make sense of what’s going on beneath the surface and to find ways of coping that actually help. Therapy can offer a space where you feel understood, not judged, and where change feels possible.

FAQ - About In Person Therapy
What are the benefits of in-person therapy?
In-person therapy offers several benefits that some people find highly valuable for their mental health treatment. Being present in the same room as your therapist can create a stronger sense of connection and allow for more nuanced communication through body language. Some people may also find it easier to focus in therapy when they are in a dedicated space and away from potential distractions related to home or work; attending an in-person session provides a clear boundary between therapy time and the rest of your life. For certain therapeutic approaches, such as Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), exposure therapy, or somatic therapy, being in person may be particularly important, as these therapies benefit from the therapist being able to observe and respond to a client’s physical cues effectively. Additionally, some individuals simply feel more comfortable discussing sensitive or painful topics when they are face-to-face with their therapist rather than on a screen.

When should I choose in-person therapy over online therapy?
In-person therapy may be a better choice when you need a structured therapeutic environment separate from your daily life, when you find it difficult to focus or feel comfortable in an online setting, or when privacy at home is a concern. It may also be more appropriate if you are dealing with severe mental health symptoms that require close monitoring or if your therapy involves approaches that rely heavily on observing physical cues. On the other hand, if convenience, scheduling flexibility, or access to specialists outside your immediate area are priorities, online therapy may be a better fit. Many therapists offer both options, so you can also discuss with a provider which format might work best for your specific situation.

How do I find an in-person therapist?
You can use Psychology Today's therapist directory to find an in-person therapist in your area. You can search by location, insurance accepted, specialty areas, therapeutic approaches, and other criteria to narrow down providers who meet your needs. Each therapist profile includes information about their credentials, areas of expertise, and whether they offer in-person sessions. Once you have identified potential therapists, you can contact them directly through the directory to schedule an initial consultation and determine whether they are a good fit before committing to ongoing treatment. When reaching out, it can be helpful to confirm their availability for in-person appointments, their office location, and whether they accept your insurance.
