Hi there, I'm Lauren and my biggest reason for doing what I do, is to empower others to believe in their own capabilities and worth. I've built up my expertise through ten years of experience in the mental health sector and I have a specialism in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) which is an evidence based therapy that focuses on thoughts, behaviours, feelings and beliefs.

Hello, welcome to Therapy NorthWest. We support the wellbeing of adults & young people in clinics in the northwest & online. We believe that life can be challenging with a number of different pressures & demands. We do not believe that these things make us ‘abnormal’ or ‘ill’, rather that there are times when we require support to work through difficulties, what has happened and how we have responded. Zandra has many years experience working with individuals, couples, families and systems to help foster greater well-being.

Hi, I'm Kimberley, a Counselling Psychologist specialising in anxiety, stress, burnout. Do you spend hours replaying conversations, worrying what others think of you? Perhaps relationships feel difficult to navigate, rejection hits hard, or you struggle to set boundaries and say no. Pushing yourself relentlessly yet not feeling good enough, leaving you exhausted and overwhelmed. Feeling like your life isn't how you imagined it would be or feeling disconnected from what matters most. In therapy, we'll work together to understand these challenges and create healthier ways of relating to yourself and others.

Often clients contact me when other therapy has not helped them in the way they had hoped. This is often due to the complexity of difficulties being layered perhaps in a history of trauma. Distress in the body and mind can be triggered by what appears to be something superficial. This can open up the past or come at a time when our emotional resilience is low so this event has a greater impact than it may have done. We can find ourselves not being able to function in our normal way. Many clients often identify as 'good copers' and those who 'just get on with it'. Perhaps we can't now - this is frightening and can derail us.

I work with clients who have suffered; loss, trauma, depression, anxiety, negative thoughts, suicidal thoughts, separation, divorce, and relationship issues.
We all have times when we have to face challenges and juggle life; this can be a very stressful time. When we are feeling, sad, alone, stressed, anxious, depressed or having relationship worries these can seem overwhelming. You may feel unable to talk to friends or family for fear of being judged. It's at times like these that we may need a helping hand, a safe place to talk, someone to talk to without feeling judged and someone who will listen to you.

Bereavement Counsellors
How long does therapy take for grief?
There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?
Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?
Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?
Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
