Bereavement, displacement, loss and trauma are as real to you as you have experienced them. Whilst the thought of counselling can be overwhelming, it is important to allow yourself the permission to literally breathe through events as you talk about them. My Integrative practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy draws from the therapeutic approaches of Person-Centred, Psychodynamic, and Cognitive Behavioural therapy (CBT). Therefore as you decide on the issues that have brought you to therapy, I will endeavour to offer a safe, confidential and co-created space to help us explore what you share, as you navigate towards wholeness.

People struggle to talk frankly about their struggles: personal, relationships and sexual. Although difficulties arising from life transitions, sex and relationships are much more prevalent than most people think, only a few people can still share their struggles with others. Therefore, psychotherapy, psychosexual and relationship therapy offer a unique and confidential space to have those conversations with me, which means you can reach out for support in these areas regardless of your background, sexual preferences and relationship experiences.

Therapy with me is calm, direct and deeply relational. I bring over three decades of experience in the helping professions and a systemic lens that looks beyond symptoms to patterns, between people, across generations and within the wider context of your life. Today’s pressures are real, and the pace of modern life impacts relationships, parenting and wellbeing. It is important to recognise this factor as it can leave people feeling helpless and a victim of their own lives . I work with individuals, couples and families navigating conflict, disconnection, parenting stress and separation, with sessions tailored and outcome-focused.

You may be successful, capable, and relied upon by others; yet privately you feel anxious, emotionally depleted, or stuck in the same relationship patterns. Many of the clients I work with are highly responsible, caring adults who have spent years being “the strong one.” You may over-function in relationships, struggle to rest without guilt, or notice that despite insight, self-help, or professional success, something still feels misaligned. I specialise in working with high-functioning women, helping professionals, and emotionally intelligent individuals who want therapy that goes beyond symptom management.

On paper, your life works but something still feels off. Maybe you’re doing all the right things, but you’ve lost the spark. Perhaps you notice the same patterns repeating and you are ready to break free of them. Our sessions together can be a place to figure things out, to untangle the thoughts, emotions, and behaviours that have left you feeling lost, disconnected or uncertain. I offer a warm, calm and compassionate space to help you understand yourself more deeply, reconnect with what matters, and create lasting change from the inside and out.

My ideal client is one that recognises that they do not have to deal with life alone. Understanding the strength in seeking guidance and support from therapy is where the work begins and it allows the creation of a safe space to think about you. One way I work is to help build an individual’s sense of self that allows them to acknowledge their own needs and helps them navigate life and its difficulties. I have experience working with diverse groups whether that be in age or culture and have worked with a variety of issues.

Thank you for stopping by. Reaching out takes courage, especially when what brings us in may only hint at deeper patterns or emotions beneath the surface. Often, we carry unspoken feelings or past experiences that quietly shape how we relate to ourselves and others. In therapy, there’s space to explore these layers with curiosity and care. Whether you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or simply ready to understand yourself more fully, this could be the start of meaningful change—and you don’t have to do it alone. I invite you to take your time, and when you're ready, we can begin to explore what has bought you to therapy together.

Black British Counsellors
As a Black British, why might I wish to see a therapist who is Black British?
Black British clients may seek out Black British therapists for several reasons, foremost being a sense of cultural understanding and the possibility of shared experiences. Cultural sensitivity and context on the part of the therapist may make it easier to form a therapeutic alliance and to focus on the work of therapy without the need to explain or educate a therapist on cultural matters. It may also be empowering to work with a therapist who shares one’s racial or ethnic background. It is important to note that a therapist who demonstrates cultural sensitivity can be highly effective even if they do not share a client’s background or race.

Can clients benefit from working with a therapist who shares their race or ethnicity?
Yes, having a therapist who shares a client’s race or ethnicity is often valuable, especially if it fosters a strong therapeutic alliance between the two. While training, qualifications, and experience are always important, a strong alliance between client and therapist is a major contributor to therapeutic effectiveness. An alliance is likely to be strengthened with a therapist who has an understanding of a client’s background and perhaps also shared life experiences. It should be noted that many clients form a strong bond with their therapist regardless of their race or ethnicity. This is a personal decision, and it depends on the therapist, the client, and the connection between the two.

How might I inquire about a therapist’s experience working with Black British clients?
Clients can ask therapists directly about their experience working with clients of diverse backgrounds, including with Black British individuals. You may wish to inquire whether a therapist has undertaken training in cultural competence broadly, and how specifically they would ensure that their approach is sensitive to the needs of Black British clients. Therapy involves honesty and trust, so it’s best for clients to share concerns about their therapist’s cultural competence at the outset. And a good clinician who is nonetheless not the right fit for you is often happy to make referrals based on the concerns you articulate.

Why is it important for a therapist to be culturally sensitive?
It’s important for a therapist to be culturally sensitive because everyone comes to therapy with a unique background and set of experiences. Being aware of culture and cultural differences between people is important for understanding clients, as is coming to therapy with an open mind, recognising that the therapist doesn’t necessarily understand everything and that the client can help guide the way.

Who is included in Psychology Today's directory of Black therapists?
The directory of Black therapists includes therapists who have self-identified their ethnicity in their profiles. Psychology Today uses this information to assist clients in finding a therapist who can provide a cultural match. However, not all therapists choose to disclose their ethnicity in their profile, and they may not appear in search results for this reason. In situations where the number of therapists who have identified as Black is limited, the directory will also show therapists who have undergone specific multicultural training or have extensive experience working with clients from relevant cultural backgrounds.
