I can understand why you may have arrived at this page. Sometimes, we can feel overwhelmed by life’s circumstances or that things aren’t feeling quite ‘on track’, or how we’d like them to be. We may be affected by low-mood, depression or anxiety, or be encountering difficulties in managing life’s challenges. These may involve our work, relationships, how we cope with loss or change, or how we relate to others.

I can help with things like relationship struggles, questions about identity, grief, past trauma, and worries around kink or sexuality.
Many people come to counselling feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or weighed down by thoughts and emotions they can’t seem to shift. My ideal client is someone who longs for relief and clarity—whether they’re dealing with anxiety, grief, relationship struggles, or a sense that life has lost direction. They want a safe, confidential space where they can say the things they don’t feel able to say anywhere else. More than anything, they want to feel understood and supported without judgement.

I am sex worker allied, kink aware, and poly affirming.
The world feels really heavy right now. War, climate crisis, the rise of the far right, skyrocketing bills. And then there's your own personal struggles that you're trying to weather. If you're depressed, burnt out, or feeling overwhelmed, I offer a space to bring all of that - openly - without judgement. I am experienced in counselling LGBTQ+, neurodivergent (inc. autistic, BPD & ADHD) and chronically ill clients. I take a person-centred approach, not seeing you as broken or in need of fixing, but rather supporting you to make sense of what you're going through, and helping you figure out a way forward that really works for you.

It can seem like the hardest thing to do to access counselling, but it can be life changing if you take that first step. You may not be entirely clear on what you want but just have a feeling that things don't feel right and you have decided that you want to understand what, why and how to refocus and live the life you feel is best for you. Or perhaps you are very aware of a struggle with difficulties, which may already be formally diagnosed by another professional, and you want to regain some control instead of feeling that these issues take over. I can support people in achieving their goals wherever they are in their journey.

I support diversity and am kink and sex-worker friendly.
I understand that considering to approach someone to discuss private and intimate matters is not easy, but this can be life changing. Experiencing emotional difficulties that affect your moods and behaviour are more common than you think. This can significantly impact a wide range of aspects in your day-to-day life and relationships. Therapy is often an effective way to reach a better understanding of yourself and the causes of your emotional discomfort. It may also help you to find the best way forward to overcome challenges and move on to experience meaningful life improvements simultaneously alleviating pressures and stress.

Sex-Positive, Kink Allied Counsellors
Why might an individual want to see a sex-positive, kink-allied therapist?
A sex-positive or kinky individual may want to see a sex-positive, kink-allied therapist because the client may feel safer and more supported discussing their experiences and challenges. A therapist who identifies as kink-friendly will have experience with clients having diverse sexual preferences and will likely be nonjudgmental and supportive about issues brought to the table. It is important to note that sex-positive, kink-allied individuals may find equal success with therapists who do not have such specialised knowledge and background. The most important factor in the success of therapy is for the client and practitioner to form a strong, trusting bond.

Do therapists have special training to gain expertise in sex-positive, kink-allied treatment?
Generally, no. There are limited training programs and unofficial accreditations that therapists can pursue, but a therapist’s expertise will ultimately come from their previous experience with similar clients, their engagement with organisations that promote sex positivity or kink-allied lifestyles, and the importance they place on safety and cultural sensitivity.

How can individuals recognise a good sex-positive, kink-allied therapist?
An experienced therapist is able to help clients explore their sexual identity and expression and relieve any discomfort or stigma attached to discussing such matters and the client’s overall challenges. A therapist who is sex-positive and kink-allied is able to create an environment that honors a client’s experience and sexual preferences. To recognise a good therapist, clients can simply ask directly about topics and issues important to them and gauge their comfort level and connection with a clinician based on the responses.

Can clients benefit from having a therapist with a focus on sex positivity and alternative sexual lifestyles?
Some individuals may feel most comfortable knowing that the clinician they’re working with has a commitment to creating an atmosphere of sex positivity and has experience with relationship diversity and alternative relationship structures. Working with a sex-positive, kink-allied therapist may help clients respect their own challenges and improve identity-affirming treatment.
