Hi, I’m Jess. Thanks for stopping by. I know how hard it can be to find the right support, so if you have any questions please contact me. While I work with a range of issues, I’m especially interested in helping people explore their sense of self. When we lose touch with who we are, life can feel unfulfilling—like we’re living for others rather than ourselves. This can lead to anxiety, low mood, and confusion about what we really want. Therapy can help you reconnect with yourself, set healthier boundaries, and build emotional resilience. Often, the moment we realise we feel disconnected is the first step toward meaningful change.

We can all struggle and sometimes it's difficult to stop and notice what’s not working for us. We can fall into repeating cycles of damaging or unhelpful habits, behaviors, and relationships. We can hold a negative belief system about ourselves which impacts our confidence and forms low self esteem. So if you feel like you’re surviving, not thriving; if you're feeling anxious & have low mood / depression; if you're having intrusive thoughts or wondering if you're experiencing OCD; if you're finding your work or home life stressful; if you’re dealing with family or relationship issues; if you're just not happy...I can help!

Do you feel anxious, burnt out, on edge, or disconnected from yourself? Life can be overwhelming — and when we carry unresolved stress, trauma, or pain, our bodies remember even when our minds try to move on. You might keep busy, care for others, or push through, but still feel lost, not good enough, or unsure who you are anymore. You just want to feel better. I support people who are tired of just coping and ready to truly understand and heal from the inside out — especially those navigating anxiety, trauma, stress, grief, low self-worth, or the long-term impact of difficult relationships or experiences.

Counselling and psychotherapy isn’t always an easy thing to do so it’s important to find a Therapist you feel you can talk openly with. I provide a supportive non judgemental space to talk, to explore your thoughts and feelings and understand yourself better. We can also look at what you have experienced and lived through. No, we cannot change the past but we can change how we relate to it. Bad experiences can feel so much less painful when we allow ourselves the time to face them and work through them with someone we trust.

We all have a unique history that shapes us and our lives. Life is all about change and transition. Transitioning from one age and stage to another, from childhood to old age. These inevitable transitions bring change for example, marriage/relationships, friendships, pregnancy/parenting, career change/loss, bereavement, and illness. Although change is inevitable it is not always easy, so exploring your thoughts and feelings about whatever the situation is now or in the past, gives you space to process, understand the impact for you, with the opportunity for new insights and perspectives allowing you to move forward more positively.

You may be here because something in your life feels stuck, painful, or confusing – and you’re ready for change. Perhaps it’s how you feel or behave. Maybe it’s how others see you – or how you see yourself. You might be caught in patterns of overthinking, relationship struggles, or self-doubt. Whatever brings you here, individual therapy offers a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space to explore it. A space to understand what’s going on beneath the surface – and how to move forward. I am registered with the BACP and hold a clinical MSc in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy.

Our true nature is free, flowing, wild and energetic. Childhood traumas create defences, because our survival instinct was so strong it protected us at all costs. The cost is our experience now, disconnection from our-self, our body, others, life. Resulting in difficult relationships, low self-esteem, anxiety, depression and self harming behaviors. The decision to come to therapy is a brave one, it is a statement to yourself and the Universe that you no longer want to just survive, but to live with more ease, connection and aliveness. The therapeutic relationship encourages this life force energy, giving space for wholeness to grow.

At certain times in life, we may find ourselves struggling, feeling overwhelmed, anxious, confused, stuck, numb, or low. These experiences can stretch our capacity to cope and leave us feeling far from the life we want to lead. Reaching out for support in such moments is both understandable and courageous. You may be navigating relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, grief and loss, or the lasting effects of trauma. Or perhaps you're not quite sure what's wrong, only that things don’t feel right. Whatever you're experiencing, it’s valid, and we can explore it together.

Female Counsellors

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or because they feel more comfortable with a therapist of their own gender due to shared life experiences or perspectives. Considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender may matter or improve their therapeutic experience. The most important consideration is that a client is able to build a trusting relationship with their therapist.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist. For women, this could be because they believe that they will be able to better connect with a woman, and that a female therapist will be able to relate to their specific challenges and personal issues. It may be particularly beneficial for women to see a female therapist, for example, for gender-specific issues, such as sexism in the workplace, relationship issues, and gender roles. The most important factor in therapy is the client-therapist connection, and a therapist's gender as well as many other factors may play an important role in this.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
