Within my wider work, I have a particular interest in supporting people who are exploring themes of home and belonging, relationship with the natural world, and living with ADHD.
You may be feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected from yourself or others, and wondering if therapy could help. People seek therapy for many different reasons. Sometimes during a difficult time, other times when everyday life feels particularly challenging. For some, there isn’t a specific issue, but a quiet sense of emptiness or lack of direction. Therapy offers a space to slow down and explore what is happening in your life with compassion and curiosity. It is a place where you can feel acknowledged, listened to and supported, and where we can begin to make sense of your experiences and who you are.

Whatever has brought you here, reaching out for counselling can feel daunting - especially when life feels overwhelming, uncertain, or stuck. I work with adults who come to therapy for many different reasons. You may be facing something specific, have struggles with your mental health, going through a period of change, or simply sensing that something doesn’t feel quite right. Whatever your starting point, we can take time to explore what’s happening for you, gently and at your own pace, in a way that feels supportive and meaningful.

We can all struggle and sometimes it's difficult to stop and notice what’s not working for us. We can fall into repeating cycles of damaging or unhelpful habits, behaviors, and relationships. We can hold a negative belief system about ourselves which impacts our confidence and forms low self esteem. So if you feel like you’re surviving, not thriving; if you're feeling anxious & have low mood / depression; if you're having intrusive thoughts or wondering if you're experiencing OCD; if you're finding your work or home life stressful; if you’re dealing with family or relationship issues; if you're just not happy...I can help!

Are you feeling Overwhelmed? Anxious? Low mood? Stressed? Feeling like this can be debilitating and can lead to a feeling of stuckness. It can affect your behaviours, your sleep and your overall health and well-being. This can often lead to being stuck in the same patterns of behaviour and this can feel exhausting. You may have experienced trauma which has left you feeling dysregulated and unsafe. You may be feeling hyper-vigilant and tense, or the opposite, and feeling very low and numb to life. You may be unable to function and live life in the way you want to. This can be really distressing and can make you feel alone.

You've done a lot of the work already. Maybe you've had therapy before, read the books, learned the language. On a good day you can talk about what happened with calm and insight. But something underneath hasn't quite let go. The anxiety still hijacks you. Certain situations still pull you back into a younger, smaller version of yourself. You feel things in your body before you can think them. What you're describing isn't a lack of insight or willpower. It's the way trauma lives in the nervous system, beneath words and beneath logic. Working with EMDR, Internal Family Systems and Brainspotting, we don't just talk about what happened

Sometimes life can throw us a curve ball, leaving us reeling and unsure which way to turn. Relationships, separations, difficult upbringings and losses can all cause tensions and heartache. If you are a young person, you might be finding school, friends, family or career choices overwhelming and confusing. In these situations, it's normal to feel anxious, depressed or stuck, finding ourselves getting upset over the little things, questioning our worth or wondering who we really are. I can help you to explore your troubles, find your true self, reflect on your choices and move confidently towards a healing outcome.

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?
You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.

How does treatment for ADHD work?
Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioural therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.

How long does treatment for ADHD take?
It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
