I'm Jon and welcome to Attached Counselling and Psychotherapy. We can all feel disconnected from the world around us, and even from ourselves. This may be represented in different ways: anxiety, depression, emotional distress, intrusive thoughts or unhelpful behaviours such as substance misuse or aggression. This can place strain on our day to day lives and affect our relationships with others. If this is pattern you recognise - maybe I can help?

Think therapists are all soothing voices and beige cardigans? Yeah, I don’t fit that cliché. To be fair, most people don’t fit the ideal client image either. People come to therapy for many reasons. Sometimes it’s obvious. Something’s happened. A loss. A breakup. Other times it’s harder to point to. On paper, everything’s fine. But it doesn’t feel fine. A relationship that doesn’t quite work, but you can’t explain why. A job that slowly drains you, even though you “should” be fine with it. Or you just feel lost. If something’s bothering you that’s enough. You don’t need to wait until you’re drowning to learn to swim.

Have you reached a point where you're wondering 'Who am I and how did I get here?' I am personally very aware that life takes us in directions we never expected. Relationships change, you transition to becoming a young adult, children grow up, careers shift, loss happens, our health taken from us, anxiety and depression can shroud us and sometimes we simply realise that somewhere along the way we've lost sight of ourselves. I offer a warm, accepting and genuinely human space where you can slow down, make sense of what is happening and begin to understand what you need. Finding your path.

My practice is built for adults who feel a deep friction between how they function on the outside and how they feel within. I specialise in working with the chaotic executive dysfunction and burnout of adult ADHD; the exhausting, high-control cycles of eating disorders and body distress; and the unique identity pressures faced by athletes and high performers. Alongside these specialisms, I regularly work with clients navigating everyday challenges - like chronic anxiety, relationship changes, or work stress. If you value a down-to-earth space without clinical stuffiness, you are in the right place.

Whether you’re dealing with anger, anxiety, bereavement, depression, estrangement, family issues, identity, loneliness, menopause, mortality, powerlessness, relationships, or simply want to talk things through, I offer a confidential, non-judgmental space to explore what you’re feeling, and how you can manage it. We’re all different and we all need to find our own way. I can help you do that. The world throws a lot at us, and expects a lot of us. And, very often, we expect a lot of ourselves too. For many of us, it can help to talk through what we’re dealing with, to help us understand what’s going on and find a way forward.

I help strong, capable, and dependable individuals - the ones everyone relies on - who carry their own needs and everyone else’s on their shoulders. From the outside they appear resilient and in control, but inside they are often exhausted. I offer a space where they no longer have to “handle it” alone.

I am a Counsellor based in Manchester offering In person and online sessions. Life can be challenging, and in places it can feel intolerable and overwhelming it can be difficult to know where to start unravelling this, how to make changes, what changes, if any, we need to make, and to try to make sense of why we feel the way that we do. This can be a very painful experience but however dark it may be today, doesn't mean tomorrow won't be lighter, counselling can offer an opportunity to be heard and to be understood. I work with clients from all backgrounds but have particular experience working with Addiction and with LGBT+ issues.

Hi, I'm Vicky to begin I’d like to acknowledge how difficult it can be making that first step to recognising you may need some support. It takes courage to admit you may need a helping hand, or someone to help bear that heavy weight you may be carrying. Something I believe most of us need at some point in our lives. It can be difficult to turn to those closest to us for fear we may be judged or not truly listened to. So, I offer a safe confidential space for you to be heard, and to explore the issues that may be troubling you, in a non-judgemental way. Somewhere you can lead at your own pace.

Men's Issues Counsellors
Is therapy for men different than it is for women?
Therapeutic treatments and types are the same for men as they are for women, with the same protocols followed and the same strategies employed. Discussing one’s feelings and emotions is an integral part of most therapies, and some men find doing so more challenging. Therapists can help clients through the process; some specialize in treating men for this reason.

How do you encourage a man to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either himself or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.

How can men prepare for therapy?
Men can prepare for therapy by approaching the process with an open mind, being willing to talk about their challenges, and giving treatment the time to work. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. It can be useful for men who struggle to recall their emotional states to write down notes between sessions about their response to a given event or how they were feeling at a particular time.

What should men know about the process of therapy?
One of the most common reasons men don’t seek therapy is the notion that there’s something wrong with them if they do. Men should know that just because they’re seeking therapy doesn’t mean they’re mentally ill or damaged in some way. In the same way people work on their bodies through exercise or a craft through practice, therapy can be a way to improve the mental and emotional skills needed to be productive and effective partners, employees, and people in all realms of life.
