Finding a therapist can feel like an overwhelming task, especially when we are at our most vulnerable. You might be struggling with something deeply personal, yet feel unable to express how you truly feel. Perhaps you worry about being judged, misunderstood, or triggering a reaction from someone in your life. Even if you have people around you, it can still feel lonely when you don't feel safe enough to open up.

Some of the hardest things we face in life don’t have easy answers — losing someone we love, receiving a diagnosis that changes everything, or looking after someone who is seriously ill. If any of that is where you find yourself, I hope I can help. I’ve been a counsellor for over 13 years, and much of that time has been spent working with people going through exactly these kinds of experiences — in hospices, hospitals, and with the charities that support people at difficult times. It’s work I feel privileged to do. Sometimes what helps is having somewhere to say the things that are hard to say to the people closest to you.

I work with adults, older adults, children, and young people from all walks of life who may be struggling with anxiety, low mood, self-esteem, relationship difficulties, trauma, grief, stress, or feeling overwhelmed. Some clients come to counselling wanting support through a specific challenge, while others may simply feel stuck and unsure of why. I aim to provide a safe, supportive, and non-judgemental space where clients can explore their thoughts and emotions openly, helping them better understand themselves and move forward at their own pace.

Psychotherapist based online, or face-to-face near Wrexham and Chester (CH3). Many people come to therapy during the messy reality of trying to become, or being, a parent - navigating fertility treatment, pregnancy, birth trauma, relationship strain, separation, blended families, or co-parenting. Others feel overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted, stuck in patterns that no longer work, or disconnected from themselves beneath the pressure of carrying too much for too long. Therapy offers a steady space to slow down, understand yourself more deeply, and begin relating differently.

There is no one way of living, and we will all find ourselves faced with challenges along the way. Sometimes, the help of an outside source can enable us to view things in a different light or explore in more depth, which is where counselling can be beneficial. I am a Person-centred counsellor working in an integrative way, as I believe no two people are ever the same, so how can a counselling approach be? For that reason, my approach may differ depending on who I am working with and their individual needs. I love meeting people from all walks of life, and it is a true privilege to play a small role in their journey through life.

I believe that you are the expert on your own life. My role isn't to "fix" you, but to walk alongside you as you navigate your way through therapy. We’ll work together to identify the patterns that no longer serve you and build the resilience you need to face life’s challenges with clarity and confidence. I am here to listen, non-judgementally and to support you as you explore your emotions.

I am a very experienced and professional therapist with over twelve thousand client contact hours behind me in individual, couples and group work. I feel my experience coupled with my life experiences makes me the person and the therapist I am today. My training in the person-centred approach (three years) and in Transactional Analysis (seven years) together with continuing professional and personal development and supervision give me a strong theoretical and experiential focus to bring to my client work. I work very much in a relational way (research indicates that the therapeutic relationship is key to positive therapy outcomes)

You may appear to be coping on the outside, yet internally feel overwhelmed, anxious, low, or emotionally exhausted. Perhaps you are carrying the impact of trauma, loss, relationship difficulties, or a persistent sense that something is not quite right. Many of the people I work with are thoughtful and self-aware, yet tired of managing alone. Therapy offers a space to pause, understand what is happening beneath the surface, and begin to move forward with greater clarity.

I also support women experiencing infertility, pregnancy or baby loss, and menopause-related emotional changes.
Sometimes it looks like you’re managing just fine - capable, responsible, the one others rely on. But inside you may feel anxious, overwhelmed, stuck, disconnected, or questioning what comes next. You might be carrying grief, burnout, relationship difficulties, or moving through a life transition that has shifted your sense of self. I work with individuals and couples, many of whom are professionals, creatives, leaders, and public-facing or high-profile individuals navigating pressure, visibility, and responsibility. Therapy offers space to slow down, understand what’s happening beneath the surface, and feel less alone in it.

I help people to overcome their past, so that they can embrace their future. So often, the things we are struggling with in life, can be linked back to our early life experiences or difficult life events, which can have a huge impact on how we feel about ourselves, our relationships with others and our overall well being. My goal is to help my clients understand and make sense of their past experiences and explore how their current difficulties may fit into this. I help them to learn new skills and break old patterns so that they can reclaim the life that they want.

Infertility Counsellors
How can infertility affect couples and their relationship?
Clients who are dealing with infertility may experience conflict and communication problems. It’s not unusual for shame, blame, and guilt to arise in cases of infertility, whether the source of the problem is one partner or both. This means that clients are upset and pulling away from their partner just when they need them the most. Some clients may find it difficult to spend time around friends and family who are pregnant. Friends and family can also make hurtful comments that increase tension during this time.

How does therapy for infertility issues work?
The therapist will begin by gathering information about the client or couple and make a treatment plan for their specific concerns. In addition to addressing common mental health issues, such as anxiety, depression, and trauma reactions or PTSD, therapists can help clients improve their decision-making and deal with stressors unique to infertility. Some examples include coping with the “two-week wait” before a pregnancy test, the distress associated with a failed attempt or miscarriage, and the shame and blame sometimes associated with reproductive concerns.

What type of therapy is best for infertility issues?
Many therapists offer psychotherapy for individuals and couples who are dealing with infertility issues. Some helpful therapeutic approaches include cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), which can aid clients in reframing negative thoughts about their situation. Expressive writing and art therapy can help clients process difficult feelings. Clients might also benefit from group therapy to experience support from others who are dealing with the same problems.

How long does therapy for infertility issues take?
There is no set length for therapy that addresses infertility or reproductive concerns. Some clients might find it helpful to continue therapy during their pregnancy to have healthy ways to cope with any associated stress, anxiety, depression, or trauma. Some clients who decide not to pursue fertility treatments might benefit from the support of a therapist. The duration of therapy varies depending on the individual client’s specific needs and goals.
