When relationships (business, family or personal) are troubled, we can feel anxious or depressed. Whether its lack of, ending of, difficulties with or changes in relationships, at work or home, our need for human closeness both brings pleasure and causes problems. Maybe change is driven by others, maybe you need something to change but don't know the best way to go about it. Perhaps you’re finding that you’re stuck in a destructive communication pattern and feel like you’re going round in circles. Maybe you don’t really know what you want, but would like to find out. I can help.

Are you tired of holding it all together? Of putting on a brave face when there’s so much beneath the surface that nobody can see? You go to work, you do your job, and to everyone around you, you seem “fine”. They don’t see the pain you’re carrying or the anxiety that creeps in late at night. They have no idea of the doubt you grapple with or the pressure you’re under.
I’m a qualified psychotherapist who helps people manage the impact of stress, anxiety and trauma. I’m also down-to-earth, deeply empathetic and know how hard it can be to share those more vulnerable parts of ourselves we keep hidden.

These are the treatment types I use, and this is what your experience will be like: I work integratively, drawing on Person-Centred, Psychodynamic and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy approaches.
I work from the understanding that human experience includes distress, conflict, and harm, and that avoiding these realities is neither helpful nor therapeutic. In the therapy room, I offer a non-judgemental, reflective space where clients can explore their experiences honestly and at their own pace. My role is not to impose interpretations or provide simplistic reassurance, but to listen carefully, ask meaningful questions, and support clients in developing insight, emotional awareness, and psychological resilience.I see therapy as a collaborative process grounded in respect, autonomy, and ethical practice.

My ideal clients are often thoughtful, capable women who have spent years coping, adapting, and holding things together for others, sometimes at the cost of their own wellbeing. Many arrive feeling exhausted, overwhelmed, or stuck in cycles of anxiety, burnout, or long-term stress. Some have been to therapy before and gained insight but found that lasting change was harder to maintain. They may understand their experiences intellectually, yet still feel stuck emotionally. Together we focus on slowing things down, rebuilding nervous system regulation, and creating sustainable ways to support wellbeing and recovery.

My therapy practice draws from psychodynamic, existential and humanistic principles.
If you are here, you may be experiencing emotional difficulties that are leaving you feeling anxious, stuck or confused. Perhaps you are questioning aspects of your life, trying to solve the puzzle of why you are who you are. Or maybe you wish to feel happier, free'er and more settled in yourself, your choices and your relationships. You may not be able to put your finger on why you’re here, and that's okay too. I believe that to change, we must feel truly seen and listened to. I support my clients by providing a healing space to reflect and begin to address the difficulties and deeper questions they are facing in their lives.

Psychodynamic Counsellors
Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?
Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.
How long does psychodynamic therapy last?
Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.
Does psychodynamic therapy work?
Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.
What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?
Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
