I'm an accredited EMDR therapist with additional training in attachment-focused EMDR, parts work, and acceptance and commitment therapy for people-pleasing, perfectionism, anxiety and depression.
Do you feel overwhelmed by everyday stress, stuck in overthinking, or weighed down by painful memories? If you’re highly sensitive, or struggling with past hurts or losses, it’s easy to get caught in people-pleasing, perfectionism and emotional exhaustion and to lose a sense of who you are along the way. I offer therapy and coaching designed to help you find calm, set healthy boundaries, heal from past wounds, and reconnect with your authentic self. Together, we’ll create a compassionate, empowering pathway toward greater confidence, emotional freedom, and lasting fulfilment — so you can become who you were always meant to be.

These include Cognitive Analytic Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Compassion Focused Therapy.
As a Highly Specialist Practitioner Psychologist, I have worked mainly with individuals who have suffered some kind of childhood trauma and I also offer assessments for ADHD & ASD. As a result I have found that individuals with personality issues, CPTSD, mood disorders and neurodiversity feel that I am the best fit for them. The types of clients who are drawn to me tend to have difficulties with rejection, abandonment, being judged and not accepted. I provide the space to counteract that, to develop self-empathy and self-compassion and to simply accept and learn to love who we truly are.

I also work in other cognitive therapies such as CBT and schema focused therapy but have a particular interest in mindfulness based and acceptance based therapies.
I specialise in working with individuals who have difficulties in managing their emotions and therefore struggle with things like relationships, drinking, substance use, self harming and other impulsive behaviour. You don't need a formal diagnosis to work with me, but I do have a speciality of working with people with personality disorders. I also have lots of experience of working with people who have had traumatic histories and are struggling to manage as a result. This might mean they are depressed, anxious or just finding trusting people hard. As well as these specialities, I also work with all major mental health issues

My approach is grounded in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), augmented by elements of Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy ( ACT) and Attachment Theory.
Have you or a loved one been struggling to cope with anxiety, feeling overwhelmed or low? Maybe social situations are difficult to face, or work and studies are harder to manage? Perhaps you've been experiencing unwanted and intrusive thoughts, or feeling driven to repeat certain actions. Doing the things that you used to be able to maybe just feels too heavy. If you're a loved one, maybe you've noticed your young person change from how they used to be. If any of this sounds familiar, I can help by providing a safe and open space to support you in overcoming these challenges. Please feel free to visit www.chpsychotherapies.com

Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Counsellors

How does acceptance and commitment therapy work?

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy encourages a person to listen to their self-talk. A person’s inner dialog can be indicative of how they treat themselves. ACT also encourages self-compassion; this can lead to a better understanding of negative thought patterns and emotional states. This understanding can then lead the individual to needed behavior change.

What are the goals of acceptance and commitment therapy?

The goal of acceptance and commitment is to expand a person’s psychological flexibility, a trait that encourages an individual to live in the present moment and to accept all their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, even ones that are difficult such as sadness and anxiety. In ACT, this acceptance is congruent with the individual’s values and beliefs.

Does acceptance and commitment therapy work for depression?

Acceptance and commitment therapy is effective for depression because it allows the individual to view their discomfort and suffering differently. Depressive feelings about relationship heartaches, for example, are a part of life. A despondent person learns to let go of their struggles and instead view their painful thoughts and feelings with compassion. This will lead the individual toward positive change.

How long are people typically in acceptance and commitment therapy?

A typical acceptance and commitment therapy session is 50 minutes long with one session per week. Treatment for common problems such as anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties can last between eight weeks to four months. However, more severe cases may require more than one session a week and/or a longer time frame for treatment.
