I have worked with hoarding, depression, post natal depression, abuse, sexual abuse, crime, stalking, relationship issues, family break downs, loneliness, anxiety and bullying to name just a few.
I am a qualified Counsellor and Psychotherapist offering therapy on a one to one basis. I am a remember of the BACP and a student member of the BPS. I have been working in this field for 7 years, and teaching counselling for 5 years. I believe the two most important factors are that you feel comfortable with me and that we work safely. This is why I offer a free 30 minute assessment. You can meet me, we assess if I’m right for you and we go from there. I work with a person centred approach, psychodynamic approach, transactional analysis, existentialism and CBT. Teaching helps me by consistently staying up to date on new techniques

I am an integrative therapist. This means that I have received training in a number of therapeutic approaches and can draw upon their various core philosophies and techniques. These approaches include: humanistic/person-centered, Ericksonian hypno-psychotherapy, depth-oriented brief therapy, eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR), self-relations psychotherapy, neuro-linguistic programming (NLP), and Internal Family Systems Therapy. So, whatever issue you may be facing, I can tailor my approach to best meet your individual needs.

You might seem like you’re holding it all together, but inside it feels like something is missing. Maybe you’re exhausted from trying to be everything to everyone, or feel disconnected from who you really are. You may be carrying trauma or stuck in patterns that no longer serve you. I offer a space where you can soften, feel met, and begin to listen to what’s really going on inside. This is a space for the parts of you that long to be heard.

I work in an experiential, compassionate, and open-minded way; offering both support and thoughtful challenge as you face what matters most. My aim is to create a space where you feel safe enough to be honest, and supported enough to take risks when something important needs attention. I believe that it is through our experience of each other in therapy that something hidden and unique can be disclosed, and that is what I aim to find with you.

Hi my name is Pauline and I am a qualified Clinical Hypnotherapist (full member of BSCH) and Counsellor (registered member of BACP) specialising in Addictions and the issues related to the addiction and the probable cause. When we are at the stage where we are googling Counsellors then this is usually because we are hoping to get the right person we will gain rapport with. The right Counsellor will allow us to open up completely about issues that we have been bottling up inside us for whatever reason. We want to be able to talk freely and easily without being judged by that comment or look that straight away makes us close up and squash those unwanted feelings and thoughts back down into their box again because, maybe, we feel ashamed and guilty. We want the issue to be dealt with in a non judgemental manner. We want that someone who will enable us to feel that we are OK. That it's not all our fault and will help us find a solution.

Thank you for visiting my page. I appreciate that seeking Psychological Therapy can be a daunting process, whether that be for yourself or a family member. I recognise that a significant part of the therapy process is establishing a positive relationship with those I support. I work mostly with adolescents, young people and adults and offer a flexible approach, drawing on a range of evidence-based interventions to try and find to the right avenue of support for your needs and goals. Alongside my private practice I lecture at the Anna Freud Centre providing training and development for future therapists.

I can help you explore what’s really going on beneath the surface. The pressures, or patterns that leave you feeling stuck or unheard. Our sessions offer a safe, honest space to slow down and make sense of things at your own pace. I’ll support you in reconnecting with yourself, finding clarity, and creating change that feels right for you. Having grown up across three different countries and speaking three languages, I have experienced the challenges of feeling unsure about where you belong.

Sometimes we feel that our life is not a life well-lived. Many of us feel like we are surviving instead of thriving. Our mental health plays a big role here. It shapes our experience of life.

I specialise in existential struggles, suicide, self-harm and ideation behaviours, whilst also supporting with everyday issues. I do one2one and couples therapy. Face to face is preferred, but I can also offer sessions via phone or online. Working together, we can explore your felt thoughts, feelings and emotions that may be prompting behaviours/ reactions that impact your everyday. Additionally, we can work to seek clarity, and sometimes even acceptance around specific situations. Exploring issues that seem a little overwhelming, with the goal of giving you back that sense of control you may have felt you’ve lost..

Life is full of its ups and downs, and during the difficult times it may feel, for some, that there is no one to turn to. It can be daunting asking for help and sometimes it feels like no one understands what we are going through. However this does not need to be the case, as you can get support and understanding through counselling. It's really about finding the right counselling relationships- if you've tried before and it didn't work... it was the wrong therapeutic realtionship- please don't give up, You are worth not giving up for.

I see clients regarding grief, depression, anxiety, stress management, emotional regulation, fears, relationship difficulties and loss. I have a particular interest in neurodiversity, including Autism, ADHD and OCD. I understand the challenges of navigating a world that is still largely neuronormative, and I aim to help clients find balance, confidence and self-acceptance within it. This is informed both by my close family experience and a genuine passion for supporting neurodiverse individuals. Together, we can explore how you might be able to work through these, find balance and refocus energy in a helpful way.

Hoarding Counsellors
What is the most effective treatment for hoarding?
Cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) has been well-studied in the treatment of hoarding. This type of therapy includes changing beliefs surrounding possessions, as well as learning how to discard items and reduce acquisitions. The hoarder may also gain much-needed organizational skills. Another useful therapy may be compassion-focused therapy, which can address emotion regulation and negative self-perception.

How long does therapy for hoarding take?
Although treatment can vary, most people demonstrate improvement after 23 sessions, with some showing improvement after just a few sessions. Researchers have developed a 26-session cognitive behavioral program. People who hoard may need “maintenance” sessions over the years if the problem arises repeatedly.

Are there medications for hoarding?
The more commonly-prescribed medications for hoarding are including antidepressants, including selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), and serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs). This can include drugs such as venlafaxine and paroxetine. And because hoarding disorder is related to obsessive-compulsive disorder, medications for OCD, such as clomipramine, may be effective for hoarding as well.

Can hoarding come back after treatment?
Hoarding is a chronic disorder and it can last throughout an individual’s lifetime. Regularly checking in with a psychotherapist can help manage symptoms long-term. A good therapist will help the person learn needed skills including decision-making, organization, and stress reduction. The patient will gain a better perspective and the need to cling to useless items will lessen.
