I help people feel more in control of their emotions, more self-aware, and more compassionate towards themselves. I blend professional and personal insight as a psychotherapeutic counsellor, and my background in career mentorship gives me a grounded understanding of workplace pressures and chronic stress. I work with adults, adolescents, and children, paying particular attention to the “inner child” in adults — using structured and creative methods to address unmet needs, old fears, and limiting beliefs. Together, we will work to meet life's challenges with calm, quiet self-criticism and foster genuine self-acceptance.

Being emotionally triggered can cause so much suffering for so many of us. But in the toxic society in which we live, we learn to either push down our pain or, worse still, judge ourselves harshly for having strong emotional reactions. Alternatives to responding to ourselves in this way can be found through learning to relate to our suffering with a compassionate understanding of the factors that have shape our emotional experience. Developing self-compassion helps us to develop the courage to process and be with the wounded parts of ourselves with the care and empathy they have always needed.

Some experiences are too heavy to carry alone. When you feel isolated in debilitating anxiety, or stuck in grief, depression or abuse, life can seem overwhelming and out of control.
A place where you feel safe and held to share your most vulnerable self can help alleviate these feelings and start to give clarity to the way ahead. An empathic, professionally attentive environment can support you through this process. I work integratively, adapting my approach to suit your personal situation, rooted in respect for you as an individual and your background or culture.

I am a psychodynamic psychotherapist and EMDR therapist. I am a person-centred Counsellor and a registered member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy). There are times in life when people can experience unmanageable or emotionally overwhelming feelings and behaviours or maybe a trauma that may persist even if there is support from friends and loved ones. I encourage my clients to fully explore their experiences and help them accept who they are and what is out of their personal control, so they can better understand their current situation and improve their lives.

I am a fully qualified and BACP registered psychotherapist working in Buckinghamshire and online. My therapeutic style is warm and relational, taking the whole person into account and inviting change through developing awareness of your self in its entirety - mind, body, emotions and spirit. Many of my clients come to me having had previous therapy which didn't feel like a great fit, or where it felt like some pieces of the puzzle were missing, and find that they are able to gain greater insight with a talking therapy that invites exploration of their whole self.

I work using a combination of Humanistic and Cognitive Behavioural (CBT) approaches. I believe that this offers you the best of both worlds. You may feel your life has lost meaning and this can lead to depression, stress or anxiety. This can sometimes be due to unhelpful or negative thinking (cognitive) patterns and together we can work on these. Talking to a professional counsellor can help you process those feelings and move towards a more contented life. I will not judge you and I will always work at your pace. I offer a careful balance of support and gentle challenge.

Women's Issues Counsellors
How do you encourage a woman to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual may be suffering, and what effects it has on them, should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
How can women prepare for therapy?
Women can prepare for therapy by being willing to talk about their past experiences and their private thoughts. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. Between sessions, it can be useful to write down notes about their reaction to a given event or how they felt at a particular time.
How long does therapy for women’s issues often last?
As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual and the challenges they face. Therapy types like Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), Prolonged exposure therapy (PET), and Eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR) can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. In some cases, such as for women with eating disorders, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realised.
How can women overcome stigma around specific challenges in order to seek therapy?
Women dealing with domestic abuse, sexual assault, eating disorders, and any other number of troubles may feel a stigma around seeking help. It’s important to remember that these issues are not uncommon and there is no shame in getting help for them. Therapy is confidential, and women can talk about their experiences without fear of judgment. Seeking therapy can be a courageous and liberating act, and an important step toward healing and recovery.
