Through my experience of nearly two decades of working within the mental health industry, I have continued to develop my empathy skills, along with a strong sense of compassion for my clients. I have the energy and motivation to wholeheartedly help my clients change. Over the course of my years in practice I have had the honour to participate in different treatment programmes, within a variety of contextual settings. This has included having the privilege to work at some of Europe’s best private clinics such as; Smarmore Castle, Lifeworks Community and Promis Clinics. I also have experience of working in a UK prison and a college.

In this often stressful world, increasing numbers of us look for help to manage the strains on our lives, whether these are caused by traumatic events or a build-up of anxieties over time. But seeking help through therapy can still be a daunting step. I aim to offer a safe, supportive and non-judgmental space for every client to talk about the pressures on their lives. I believe each client is a unique individual and draw on a variety of approaches, depending on what seems suitable. These include humanistic, person-centred, psychodynamic and existential.

I see clients individually or in couples, who are suffering from all kinds of anxiety and unhappiness,or are feeling lost or stuck. You may be having problems at work, with self-esteem or in your relationship with a partner or friends. You may need to work through trauma, including bullying and relationship loss. If you are a couple, I will help you to analyze what has gone wrong; and have you learn to nurture your relationship by thinking together and working out how to support each other.

Life can leave us feeling overwhelmed and lost, especially when navigating emotional and physical pain. Imagining freedom from this can feel daunting and impossible. My aim is to co-create with you a therapeutic space rooted in curiosity, honesty, and care. This brings awareness to your habitual patterns and to address them with a supportive and open approach. As a qualified psychotherapist, I engage with your story and create a space where you can speak freely, explore the meaning of your symptoms, gain insights, and question your personal beliefs. Together, we can actively shape a change that aligns with your values and hopes.

It’s a proven fact that, at some point in most of our lives, we will face challenges that throw us off balance and may require some support. This is not a sign of weakness or madness—it’s simply part of being human. There are many reasons you might be seeking therapy. You could be grappling with the lasting effects of deep trauma and need support with self-regulation. Perhaps you’re curious about understanding yourself better—why you find yourself repeating certain patterns in your relationships or life.

Male Counsellors

As a man, why might I want to see a male therapist?

There are many reasons a man might wish to work with a male therapist, including a degree of shared identity, which may help client and therapist connect to each other and allow for a more free-flowing discussion of issues that can be deeply personal. Some men may feel more comfortable talking to a male therapist about relationship concerns, the pressures they feel around the roles society and family place on men, career or job challenges, self-esteem, or anger problems. For some men who have not had a male role models in their lives, a good male therapist may be especially helpful.

How can I find out about a therapist’s experience treating men?

Individuals looking for treatment should feel comfortable directly asking a therapist about their history treating men overall and the issues that arise in therapy with men. A good therapist will be happy to discuss such matters as well as their educational background, approach to treatment, and how they think they can aid a prospective client.

Can clients benefit from having a therapist of the same gender?

Therapy is not gender-specific, but some men as well as women feel more comfortable opening up about their experiences and history with therapists of a specific gender. An individual may feel that they have to explain less background information and be on the same page more quickly, particularly when discussing gender-specific challenges. That said, a good clinician can transcend most if not all gender concerns. Ultimately, the most important factor in therapy is the connection and trust the client is able to build with the practitioner.

Would a male therapist have specific training in treating men?

Generally, no. There are no certifications for treating men specifically, but there are continuing education classes that therapists may take that focus on treating men as a group. There are many therapists who focus on men and male issues in their treatment and therefore have experience and expertise in this domain.
