You're holding everything together — work, relationships, responsibilities — and doing it well enough that nobody would guess the effort it actually takes. But privately something won't shift. The anxiety that appears for no obvious reason. The relationships that follow the same exhausting patterns. The flatness that success hasn't touched. You've probably tried to address it. Got some tools, felt better for a while. But something underneath keeps reasserting itself — and you're right that it does. I've spent 30 years helping people understand what's actually driving their experience, not just manage the symptoms.

When you struggle with emotional or cognitive changes - whether due to ADHD, a brain injury, or the fog of a long-term health condition - the world can feel like it wasn’t built for you. You might find yourself constantly 'masking' to fit in, feeling overwhelmed by tasks that seem simple to others, grieving the person you were before, or worrying about the future. If you are feeling overwhelmed by cognitive changes or frustrated by a life that feels out of sync with your goals, I am here to help you find clarity and self-compassion.

Do you ever feel that your life could be better? Maybe there is not enough satisfaction and joy in your life? Maybe you feel stuck, perhaps because you have been unable to create the life you want, or because relationships, either at home or work, seem to repeat in unhelpful ways without resolution. Sometimes these circumstances can interact with anxiety, depression or other difficulties, causing an unhelpful spiral which leave you feeling even less able to make positive change. Contacting a therapist may feel difficult, but it can be the first step towards understanding the blocks preventing you from living the life you want.

Life is full of challenges, and we can all struggle to cope with the impact of difficult events or circumstances. Therapy can be a useful support in navigating tricky periods and can help people deal with distress in a way that minimises its impact on quality of life. I work with individuals in a collaborative way, using a process of formulation to develop a shared understanding of psychological difficulties. The direction and content of our work will depend on an individual’s personal goals for the future and can range from exploratory work to a more structured approach focusing on the development of self-management skills.

As a senior student in Core Process Psychotherapy, I use gentle embodied mindfulness and presence to help you relate to yourself in a new way, to come into relationship with the whole of yourself with kindness and curiosity.
Combining Buddhist wisdom with Western Psychodynamic theory, I bring calm curiosity, empathy, loving-kindness and a belief that at our core we are all essentially free and possess inherent health. I believe in asking, “What has happened to you?”, rather than “What is wrong with you?”. The whole of you is welcomed and accepted in our space together.

You may not know exactly what's wrong, only that you've lost touch with who you are outside of what everyone needs from you. Maybe you've tried therapy before, done the reading, built a spiritual practice - and still, something hasn't landed. As a therapist of colour, I understand that your struggles don't exist in isolation. Family, culture and identity shape everything you carry. Whether you're navigating low mood, anxiety, relationship patterns, or a disconnection from your sense of purpose, this is a space where your whole experience is welcome, even the mask.

How does mindfulness-based cognitive therapy work?
Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy originated in the work of John Kabat-Zinn of the University of Massachusetts Medical School. He developed mindfulness-based stress reduction, which is a technique found in yoga and meditation. MBCT is a combination of this type of stress reduction and cognitive behavioral therapy; it essentially quiets emotional distress through mindfulness, utilizing proper breathing and meditation. These techniques aim to bring the individual into the present moment when in a state of distress.

When do I know if I need treatment with mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?
If an individual’s mind is filled with emotional distress and general negativity, the person may feel trapped. A mindfulness-based cognitive therapist can help a person change their thinking patterns as well as their behaviour through calm acceptance and compassion. This therapy can provide an individual with the coping skills needed for a healthier and more constructive life.

What should I expect from mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?
This therapy often takes place in group sessions. A therapist will work with the group as well as with each individual. Meditation and breathing exercises are core practices that aim to invite inquiry and discovery into a person’s troubled mental state. The objective is to identify and lessen negative thoughts and behaviours and move toward optimal health and productivity. The individual will see life in a more realistic way. This therapy is supportive, accepting, and warm.

Is mindfulness-based cognitive therapy effective?
Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy is evidence-based and effective. One study found that people with major depressive disorder have benefitted from this type of therapy; the person accepts their distressed thoughts and also moves into healthier patterns of thinking. This therapy also aims to move an individual away from automatic negative responses. This type of therapy can bring a person lifelong change, with higher levels of satisfaction, less stress, as well as positive emotional and behavioural habits.
