With this comes PTSD, self harm,
suicidal
thoughts, depression, anxiety, panic attacks and self loathing.
Everyone is an individual who experiences life and the issues it throws, in very different ways. No 'one' sure way fits all - that is my Moto. We are individuals. Whatever anyone is feeling they shouldn't believe that they can "just cope" because everyone else seems to be doing ok. Its all relative! Depression/anxiety/stress/ lack of self worth and esteem are all problems in todays society and many suffer in silence. You don't need to. Often by talking and getting your problems out in the open is the first step to healing. Their voice to be heard and feelings to be listened to. Trust and the therapeutic relationship are key.

My work has helped people who are suffering with prolonged anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, OCD, low self-esteem, disordered eating, feelings of self harm and

I try to make therapy as available to as many people as I possible can. The cost of therapy can be quite steep so I keep my prices as low as I can so that more can access it. Therapy is about getting to where you want to be by making your own unique road map, so that you can use it again in the future if need be. I'm an Addiction Psychologist by trade, with 18 years of private practise behind me, but a lot of my work is helping many different age groups with problems such as OCD and PTSD etc. Please feel free to contact me and we can have a chat to see if i can be any help to you.

I know how it feels. I’ve trawled these sites looking for something that stands out, someone a bit different. Someone real. Feeling lost, feeling alone, feeling so down. Wanting to find that person I could, just perhaps, take a leap of faith with. I won’t promise I’ve been exactly where you are or where you’ve been, because I can’t. Nobody can. As humans we are all unique; each of us is a special, individual creature.

Entering into counselling is a decision that takes thought and consideration. It is an unknown experience that can be daunting and scary, and you could be unsure of what to expect. It is often about gaining a greater understanding of where we find ourselves now as well as giving a voice to our experiences and feelings, often for the first time. Whatever it is that brings you to counselling we will work together with a freedom for you to "be" without judgement or expectation in a safe, confidential and compassionate space. Our aim is to work towards a brighter and more positive future for you.

Life can be unpredictable and often things are put in our paths that have an impact on our psychological & Emotional wellbeing. Sometimes these issues can take their toll and cause us pain and suffering, partly due to pushing them to the back of our minds, bottling up or just trying to ignore them in the hope they may just go away. Quite often we try to maintain a brave face and show the world that we can cope, but the reality is, when we ignore difficult experiences, feelings and thoughts they are trapped inside. Never really disappearing, they stay just in the background within continuing to impact our view of self & our world.

Suicidal Ideation Counsellors
How does therapy for suicidal ideation work?
Stress, depression, anxiety, or upsetting circumstances can give rise to suicidal thinking. Therapy can address the events at the core of an individual’s suffering. Understanding why a person may be suicidal can help the therapist and the patient discover alternative methods of coping. A person with suicidal ideation may be mired in catastrophic thinking, and treatment like cognitive behavioural therapy is a good choice for breaking such patterns. In addition, treatment such as acceptance and commitment therapy can help a person manage their distress through better emotion regulation.
Which therapies are best for suicidal ideation?
Specific approaches used by professionals include cognitive behavioural, dialectical behaviour, psychodynamic, acceptance and commitment therapies, among others. Cognitive behavioural and dialectical behaviour therapies are two widely used therapies that can help individuals with painful thoughts and past traumas. These therapies help an individual tolerate distress, regulate emotions, and not act on dangerous urges.
Are there specific medications to be combined with therapy?
The use of medication for suicidal thoughts must be aligned with the underlying cause; conditions such as depression, anxiety, and psychosis may be at the root of suicidal ideation. A psychiatrist may prescribe medications for symptoms, which may include antipsychotics such as aripiprazole or antidepressants such as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors.
How often and how long are therapy sessions for suicidal ideation?
As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual. Patients may see improvement within 15 to 20 sessions, at an average of 50 minutes per session, while others may opt for 20 to 30 sessions over, perhaps, a six-month period. Still other patients, especially those with co-occurring conditions like major depression and anxiety, may need to continue sessions for up to 12 to 18 months. In some cases, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm.
