I use an integrative approach as I do not believe one style fits all. This means I will suggest utilising the most appropriate approach according to individual needs and wants. The main approaches I work with, but not limited to, are EMDR & CBT. My 'Intensives' offer the depth of long-term work in a condensed format, allowing space for insight, emotional processing, and lasting change; working in half/ full day or week blocks- for people who prefer taking time out to focus on accelerated change without the delay of years of weekly sessions (this isn't appropriate for every body and is on an individual basis).

I support clients (both children and adults) experiencing cognitive, emotional, or behavioural challenges following stroke, brain injury, long-COVID, dementia, PTSD, or mood changes that affect daily life. You may feel frustrated, anxious, or unsure why symptoms persist and need clarity, personalised assessment, and practical strategies. The goal may be to regain confidence, improve functioning, manage emotional distress or process psychological trauma. This can all help to reconnect with yourself, and meaningful activities using the support of compassionate, evidence-based neuropsychological care.

You don't have to be in crisis to benefit from therapy. Sometimes it's enough to recognise that something just doesn't feel right, even if you can't quite put your finger on why. Maybe you're struggling with anxiety that never seems to switch off, finding yourself stuck in the same patterns or carrying the effects of difficult experiences from the past. You might be feeling overwhelmed, exhausted or simply know that something needs to change. If you've never had therapy before, it's completely understandable to feel unsure about taking that first step.

If you have got this far you probably have an inkling that to talk about what is troubling you might help. Why not give it a try? Perhaps you are wondering how it works. The short answer is we work together to make connections between your past experience and your present life. It is as we become more aware of these connections that change can flourish. Why not take a step of faith and see where "talking about it" gets you?

My ideal clients are adults carrying the weight of childhood trauma, complex grief, or attachment wounds — often survivors of abuse, adoptees, or those stuck between grief and acceptance after loss. They come to me feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unable to move forward despite years of trying. Using EMDR, IFS-informed approaches, and IADC Therapy, I help process unresolved trauma, release stuck grief, and address root causes rather than just symptoms. For those wanting faster results, I offer intensive therapy — three hours daily over three days. Together, we work towards lasting change, so you can finally move forward.

We may use different words to describe what's going on for us when we are looking for therapy: unsure, fed up, low, empty, frustrated, anxious, panicky, over-thinking, unable to sleep, too sensitive, or like can't carry on... Perhaps feeling not in control, not belonging, invisible or wanting to escape, or lost. It can be overwhelming, taking too much from us. So starting therapy is right. We can use therapy space, free of judgement, expectation or failure, to talk it all through and work things out.

Intervention Counsellors
How does an intervention work?
An intervention is a planned, structured meeting in which a person’s family or friends voice concerns about the person’s behaviour and its consequences; the goal is for the person to accept treatment. In this meeting, the person’s loved ones (often with the guidance of a trained interventionist) share how the person’s behaviour has harmed them and the consequences if the person refuses treatment. They collectively ask the person to accept a proposed treatment plan.

How effective are interventions?
There isn’t extensive research on the efficacy of interventions, in part because success is difficult to measure. Individuals often enter addiction treatment after an intervention, for example, but treatment itself may not work, especially if the person only begins due to external pressure from others rather than due to internal motivation to change. However, if all other attempts at helping someone have failed, an intervention may be worth exploring.

What are the limitations of interventions?
While a friend or family member’s intentions are in the right place in wanting to help a loved one through an intervention, there are significant limitations to the approach. The surprising nature of the event can make the person feel ambushed or judged. They may feel embarrassed or ashamed as a result, and relationships may be strained or broken. This can make it difficult for the individual to be receptive to the concerns of their loved ones and the interventionist.

Are there alternatives to interventions?
Rather than confronting a loved one through an intervention, an effective and less pressured approach is to create space for a caring, open, one-on-one conversation. This works best if the loved one asks open-ended questions, listens attentively to the answers, and frames their observations and statements with concern rather than judgment. More than one conversation may be needed, but change can take root over time.
