Hi and thank you for taking the time to look at my profile, I hope that you feel I can help. Acknowledging that you might need help and then looking for that help can seem like a daunting task and finding the right person to help you may feel even harder. I believe that therapy should be a collaborative and non-judgemental process where we build a trusting therapeutic relationship to understand and work through your difficulties with aim that you are able to improve your experience of your life. A key to this is listening to you as the expert of your own experience and finding the approach that best fits with you.

Hello and thank you for taking the time to view my profile. Counselling is a unique and often life changing endeavour. It takes courage and strength to acknowledge a personal need to attend to difficult life experiences, or work towards improving mental health, wellbeing and quality of life.

I always believed therapy should be approachable if someone needed it ideally without a waiting list. The worst thing to happen when you finally tell yourself you are strong enough to ask for help is to be sat on a waiting list. It is also the case if you can see your loved ones struggling. I believe in providing a safe, confidential space where the client comes first. I keep my clients at the core of my therapy and whatever the issues it is treated with focus and empathy. To me, talking through things eases a large amount of the problem so I made sure I can offer that to others.

Entering into counselling is a decision that takes thought and consideration. It is an unknown experience that can be daunting and scary, and you could be unsure of what to expect. It is often about gaining a greater understanding of where we find ourselves now as well as giving a voice to our experiences and feelings, often for the first time. Whatever it is that brings you to counselling we will work together with a freedom for you to "be" without judgement or expectation in a safe, confidential and compassionate space. Our aim is to work towards a brighter and more positive future for you.

There are times in our lives when we're not OK, when we believe that no one understands our struggles, that we alone should fix them, or that things will never change. But it needn't be like this. I specialise in supporting people experiencing: various forms of anxiety (including social, health, stress, work-place) • low-mood and depression • effects of trauma • low self-esteem • addictions and substance dependency • relationship issues.

Are you looking for a younger person to work with in therapy? Or you may be a young person yourself. I am a trained counsellor and coach - a qualification gained after a degree in Psychology. Our work together will provide you with somewhere you can talk openly, where you can come each week to say what you’ve been wanting to say, and feel what you’ve been wanting to feel. All of our lives are complex, and all of them have challenges. However, we don’t always have a space to process these challenges. We can find, together, what changes and resolutions might help.

I use an integrative approach as I do not believe that one style fits all. This means that I will suggest utilising the most appropriate approach according to individual needs and wants. The main approaches I work with, but not limited to, are TA (Transactional Analysis), CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), Humanistic Therapies. I am also a qualified Europe and UK EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing) therapist, a treatment with great success for different types of trauma, PTSD, assaults, rape, phobias, illness, injury, anxiety, self-esteem, stage fright/ performance/ tests and relationship issues.

How can I find a therapist in Chelmsford?
Search for nearby therapists or counsellors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or postcode; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or postcode into the search bar.

Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online or over the phone can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postcode.
What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counsellor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counsellors are all licensed mental health professionals. In many countries, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counsellor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counsellors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
What type of therapist is right for me?
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counsellor who can offer short-term, targeted support.
Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counselling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.
What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
