I have over 6 years of experience helping adults and young people in crisis.
Sometimes, we reach a point in life where we find ourselves numb, anxious, easily upset or frustrated struggling to enjoy the life we have because of trauma, grief, depression or loss of Self. This can affect everything we hold dear: the relationships, the work, personal life, or feeling lost and lacking in self-esteem. It can be really hard to share our difficult feelings with someone or even to admit it to ourselves, and I appreciate and respect that. My aim is to help you find Your-Self, enjoy life again, recognise your personal potential and empowerment, so you can move towards having a meaningful and fulfilling life.

People often reach out when something in their life feels heavy, confusing or quietly overwhelming. You don’t need to have a clear story to begin. I offer a calm, confidential space where you can slow down, speak honestly, and explore what feels out of step or painful. Much of what shapes us lives below the surface — old patterns, shame, grief, relationships, the body’s responses. Therapy is a place to bring these into conversation, gently and at your pace, so that new understanding and possibilities can begin to emerge.

To others you may seem as though you are coping, whilst internally feeling anxious, overwhelmed or emotionally exhausted. Perhaps you are adjusting to the impact of illness, fertility difficulties, pregnancy or menopause, or navigating major life transitions, while feeling the pressure of needing to hold everything together for others. I primarily work with women experiencing these challenges. I am a Clinical Psychologist with over eight years’ experience across NHS and charity settings, including specialist health psychology services. I run a small independent online practice, Pathways Clinical Psychology offering online therapy.

I work with adults online and in-person offering a calm and welcoming environment where you can speak freely and confidentially about whatever is on your mind or however you are feeling, even if finding the words is difficult.
I bring a wealth of life experience to my counselling practice. I previously worked in nursing, midwifery and teaching. This gives me insight into busy, stressful lives and allows me to offer a holistic approach in my therapy sessions. Our 50 min sessions can be either remote via Zoom or in person in the Stockport or South Manchester area.

For DV survivors we can look back at childhood attachments how they relate to your relationships as an adult.
As a counsellor I am here to help you learn about your self and make sense of things. Most people suffer with depression when they have unfinished business or are stuck in the past.

Hi, I'm Sarah. I have over 18 years experience as a counsellor. We all have times when we find it hard to cope. Counselling can help you understand why you think, feel and act like you do. It can help you develop positive strategies to get what you want out of life. How we think, feel and behave is part of being human. Problems can arise when we get 'stuck' in negative thought patterns; when our feelings become overwhelming; when our behaviour is self-destructive and doesn't result in us getting what we need; when we worry about the future, dwell on the past and find it hard to live in the present.

I work relationally and at your pace, helping you reconnect with yourself and build a life that feels more grounded, free, and aligned with who you are.

We all face Challenges and internal conflicts at some point in our lives; there are three solutions to every problem; Accept it, change it or leave it. If you are reading this profile you are probably on the road of wanting change, you don't have to struggle in silence and the time for change is now. The most important ingredient of change is the acknowledgment of the situation.Sometimes it can be very hard to explain what is going on in your head or your heart when you don't even understand it yourself , this is where speaking to someone with decades of experience makes a difference.

I am committed to supporting people in healing from relational trauma, developmental trauma, childhood trauma and interpersonal trauma of all kinds. Human beings are amazing, remarkable and resilient in our ability to cope with adversity. We often compartmentalise or dissociate what happens to us so we can carry on living. We also turn to all manner of addictions and behaviours that on the surface may seem disordered and destructive yet at the same time they make perfect sense. They protect us, help us to stay in control, help numb the pain, help us to survive, and help communicate our stories.

Have you ever felt stuck with your family or work roles? Do the people who are meant to love you unconditionally, frequently hold you back? Do you find yourself constantly feeling the need to apologise for things, then wondering what you have done wrong? Maybe you have felt blamed for things in life and want to explore things further. Or you may feel held back by guilt and regret. I can work with you to explore this through a safe and steady process which looks at patterns across your life and within relationships. This will help you to break free from the restraints of negative approval you may have felt for many years.

I am a warm and empathic individual offering Person Centred Play Therapy to children and young people. Developmentally children under the age of twelve find it difficult to verbalise their thoughts and feelings and through play, the child's natural form of expression, they can make sense of their world around them using puppets, sand, miniatures, dance, movement and art as a way of expressing themselves freely. I also support parents who may find it difficult when parenting their child and help them to find solutions as we explore more therapeutic ways of parenting and strengthen the relationship between parent and child.

Hi, I’m Anita, and I believe counselling can offer a calm, reflective space where you can begin to understand yourself more deeply and make sense of what you’re experiencing. People come to counselling for different reasons. You may feel overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure why things feel difficult. You might be facing a specific challenge, noticing old patterns repeating, or finding that past experiences are still shaping your present. Sometimes there’s a sense that something isn’t right, and you want space to explore it. You don’t need to arrive with the right words or know what you want to work on, we can begin wherever you are.

FAQ - About Adult Counselling
Why should adults see a therapist?
Adults may benefit from therapy for a wide range of reasons—whether it’s managing symptoms of a diagnosed mental health condition like anxiety or depression, navigating life transitions, coping with grief or trauma, or simply seeking support during a challenging life period. Many adults find that therapy helps them build healthier coping skills and better process their emotions, which may lead to better relationships and reduced stress. It’s important to note that, unlike psychiatrists or primary care physicians, therapists do not prescribe psychiatric medication. However, they will often work alongside prescribing clinicians to ensure coordinated care and can provide behavioural therapy as an important addition to psychiatric medication. Mental health concerns can look different in adulthood than in childhood or adolescence, so finding a therapist with expertise working with adult clients is important. Conditions like major depressive disorder (MDD), generalised anxiety disorder (GAD), bipolar disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for instance, may present or resurface differently in adulthood than in childhood or adolescence. Adult-specific stressors, such as job strain, caregiving responsibilities, relationship challenges, financial stress, or identity transitions, can also influence the onset and type of symptoms an individual experiences. Adult-focused therapists, therefore, are trained to understand these complexities and tailor care accordingly.

How do I know if a therapist is the right fit for me?
When seeking care, it’s important to understand a therapist’s treatment specialties and their overall approach to treatment . Some therapists focus on common adult conditions like anxiety or depression, while others specialize in areas such as trauma, substance use disorders, or obsessive-compulsive disorder. It’s also important to consider a therapist’s training when seeking care. Therapists in the UK hold various credentials depending on their training and regional requirements. Counsellors and Psychotherapists registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) receive the designation MBACP and their qualifications and practice are overseen by BACP. Many Psychologists registered with the British Psychological Society receive the title of Chartered Psychologist (CPsychol), signifying that they have completed postgraduate training and supervised practice. All of these professionals can provide talk therapy but do not prescribe medication. When searching for a therapist, consider their credentials and training background to ensure a good fit.

How do I find a therapist who sees adults?
Psychology Today’s online directory allows you to search specifically for therapists who work with adults. Each provider profile includes key information such as clinical specialties, therapeutic approaches, licensure, accepted insurance plans, languages spoken, and session fees. Reviewing these details can help you determine whether a particular provider aligns with your needs and can indicate whether they are a good match for adult clients.
