We all have troubling problems at times, be they emotional, personal or work-related. Sometimes these problems can feel overwhelming and we become stressed, anxious and unhappy. This can affect our confidence handling relationships, making decisions and generally, our ability to just cope with the pressures that each day brings. Reaching out to an experienced therapist will enable you to talk openly about your concerns and be listened to without being judged. For many people, this is a profound way of bringing about positive and lasting change.

If you’re feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or disconnected from yourself, you’re not alone. You may be carrying old wounds, people-pleasing patterns, or tension in your body you can’t quite explain. You might be tired of holding everything together on your own and longing for clarity and steadiness. I offer a gentle, grounded space where we can explore why things feel this way and begin to untangle patterns that no longer serve you, slowly, safely, and at your pace.

Sometimes life is confusing, painful and problematic and we are troubled, distressed and not at peace with our lives or, ourselves. I fully believe that therapy is a setting in which we are able to speak freely and not feel judged; a place where we are met with empathy and understanding. I truly believe a setting such as this provides the basis from which healing can begin. It is absolutely my belief that the answers to our questions lie within us and we just need some assistance in navigating to those answers. Whatever it is you are seeking help with, I would love to work with you to find your answers, clarity and peace.

I work with a diverse range of people, and for example, have experience of working with individuals who are encountering  challenges with depression, anxiety, addiction, grief, neurodiversity, pregnancy, peri and post menopause.
Therapy is here to support and question what's happening in your life, so that you can explore the conflicts that may be arising for you. You will have relationships and experiences, past and present, that have informed who you are. Therapy with me can enable you to notice where tensions and an imbalance might lay. I provide a safe space and listening ear, so that you can get to know yourself a little better.

My particular expertise is with people of all ages who are experiencing grief and loss, identity or relationship issues, life transitions, and the outcomes of trauma.
Believing in the uniqueness of each person and their circumstances at any one moment in time, I am committed to a pluralistic approach which acknowledges and values the notion that what might work in one session, might not be successful in another, and that what might be appropriate for one client, might feel uncomfortable for someone else. Our relationship will, therefore, be based on the premise that your therapy will be the outcome of the collaboration between you and I, and will reflect your shifting needs within sessions, and from one session to another, as together we travel beyond the boundary of your previous thoughts.

How long does therapy take for grief?
There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?
Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?
Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?
Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
