I am a Transactional Analysis practitioner who weaves this modality in with somatic awareness and healing practices, as well as having a passion for working outdoors in alliance with nature.
Hello! I am an experienced and energetic practitioner I experience many clients saying that they don’t believe that their problems are bad enough, that there must be others in need who are suffering more, or that it is indulgent to go for counselling. If you are finding it hard to cope with life, for whatever reason, remember that you deserve to be heard and that your experiences, memories and feelings are real for you. I walk alongside you as you explore your unique life experiences and bring them for healing. I am a qualified counsellor and coach. UKCP trainee psychotherapist currently working towards accreditation.

I take a mind-and-body approach with my clients, integrating traditional talking therapies with somatic and bodywork.
Are you finding relationships challenging?Have you heard of Body-Psychotherapy, a unique form of therapy that gives clients results in a short period of time? The key strength of this kind of therapy is that it bypasses the 'story' of traditional 'Talking therapies' and works somatically by discharging blocked energy (consciousness) that client hold in the body! I am particularly interested in working with people who have already engaged with a form of therapy, yet feel there is still something missing: I will help you find your authentic self!

Is it difficult for yourself to connect to your emotions and feelings? Sometimes it is complicated to find a link to enable us express freely. Unintentionally, we can create a habit in which we suppress, run away, deny or manipulate our emotions. It is normal to try to push away feelings of discomfort like stress, fear or pain; but there are tools you can learn to help you cope with these emotions in a healthy way. Instead of denying, distracting yourself, manipulating or disconnecting, you can accept, observe, acknowledge and connect deeply with your feelings.

When difficult thoughts and emotions are suppressed, they often come out in other ways, either mentally or physically, or both. It is well known that there can be such a huge sense of relief when sharing something extremely distressing that may well have been bottled up inside for days, months, or even years. Counselling and psychotherapy provide an opportunity to talk in private about those difficult thoughts or feelings you might be having, in a way that might be difficult to do so with friends or family.

If you're reading this, you're curious about what therapy can do for you. You might have issues with relationships, communication, family, self-worth, body image, mood, eating or sleep, or you might just be feeling vaguely disconnected and don't know why. You might want to be able to make sense of what you feel, why you feel the way you do and then know what to do about it. One thing is for sure - you'll learn a lot about yourself in therapy - how you got here, what you need, how to take care of yourself.

Somatic Counsellors

How does somatic therapy work?

Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.

Is EMDR a somatic therapy?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.

Is somatic therapy evidence-based?

Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.

What is somatic trauma therapy?

Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
