Is it difficult for yourself to connect to your emotions and feelings? Sometimes it is complicated to find a link to enable us express freely. Unintentionally, we can create a habit in which we suppress, run away, deny or manipulate our emotions. It is normal to try to push away feelings of discomfort like stress, fear or pain; but there are tools you can learn to help you cope with these emotions in a healthy way. Instead of denying, distracting yourself, manipulating or disconnecting, you can accept, observe, acknowledge and connect deeply with your feelings.

I have a number of years experience working with trauma, self-harm, relationships, sexuality, grief, anxiety, depression and addiction on a one-to one basis with adults of all ages.
My practice is dedicated to providing a safe and supportive environment where individuals can explore their thoughts, emotions, and experiences. Establishing a strong therapeutic relationship built on trust, empathy, and non-judgment, I provide a safe and confidential space where clients can freely express themselves, fostering a sense of comfort. The exploration of past experiences, especially in childhood, uncovers patterns, unresolved conflicts, and underlying emotional struggles. I encourage self-reflection and the development of insight into one's inner world.

I can help you work through areas in your life where you feel “stuck” and where you experience problems, like anxiety and depression, addiction, phobias, Post Traumatic Stress, feelings of low self-worth and low self-esteem, or problems in your relationship.
We all experience difficult times in our lives. I believe that the way we manage those hard times is dependent on our previous experiences, and on the beliefs, thoughts and feelings we hold on to as a result of this. This can inhibit us from feeling happy and fulfilled, and from being our true authentic selves.

Life can feel overwhelming at times—whether from anxiety, grief, relationship struggles, cultural pressures, or simply feeling “stuck.” Counselling offers a confidential, non-judgemental space to slow down, reflect, and begin making sense of things. Like the Japanese art of kintsugi—where broken pottery is repaired with gold—therapy can help us see that our cracks are part of our story. Healing doesn’t mean erasing what has happened, but instead finding new strength and meaning in the patterns we may have carried for too long. With support, those places of pain can become places of resilience, authenticity, and growth.

Face to face and online, I have helped many clients recover from anxiety disorders, depression and self-esteem issues. I have helped clients with abandonment and rejection fears work on relationship issues so that they are able to live in harmony with others. We will work together with your presenting issues and we will also journey into your past to see if we can get to the root of why you feel the way you do and together we will work through any triggers so that your life becomes more manageable. There is nothing more enlightening than self discovery and becoming a more confident version of yourself is extremely empowering.

I work with individuals and couples navigating life's "in-between" spaces—those feeling the weight of cultural shifts, identity confusion, or family roles that no longer fit. My clients often feel like strangers to themselves, arriving with a sense of survival rather than true connection. I offer a space where your contradictions are welcome and your voice is finally heard. By integrating depth-oriented tools with creative metaphor, I help you untangle old patterns and move through transitions without the need for a clinical script. Together, we work toward living with genuine presence and clarity.

She has worked with clients presenting a variety of issues: from day-to-day stress, depression, bereavement, relationship difficulties, abuse and anger to drug addiction and destructive behaviour.
Each individual session is slightly different and is catered purely for the individual client and their needs. The first consultation will look at what is happening, looking at the problem each individual is faced with. We will then work together, at a pace that suits you, to bring about changes. Together we will discuss a way forward that you feel happy and at ease with. Magnolia House Therapy is located at Magnolia House, a quiet, tranquil setting in which situations can be talked about privately and in confidence. Here your issues will be listened to empathetically.

I have many years’ experience of working with addiction and trauma.
Hi, I offer CBT and person centred counselling this means I accept and support you to explore ways to help overcome uncomfortable or traumatic emotions you may be experiencing. I have also trained in cognitive behavioural therapy which can help support and reframe thinking. We may have experiences in life that can be overwhelming or we are unable to make sense of the events that may have happened to us. Asking for help can be the first step for us to overcome or understand how we are feeling and the repetitive behaviour's or thoughts that can keep us in a unhealthy cycle, working together allows us to find heathy self-awareness.

I have a vast experience of working effectively with addictions and self-regulation.
I endeavour to provide a safe, comfortable, quiet space for clients to explore sensitive issues. The relationship between myself and the client is at the heart of my approach. I believe that being with a client and offering a compassionate holding presence while they share their story is essential to establish a therapeutic working alliance before offering insight and psycho education. I adapt my approach to suit the needs of each client and integrate suitable interventions or tools work with whatever issue the client is presenting.

I am an NHS Consultant Psychologist leading a gambling addiction service.
We could all do with help sometimes. I get it. Our world is imperfect and challenging and there is no way to know what life throws next. You may have experienced a loss or trauma and others around you cannot grasp its magnitude. Or you may have resorted to ways of coping that harm you and cannot break free. Or perhaps you are tired of recurrent disappointments, rejections, criticism that have affected how you feel within yourself and your relationships. Forming a genuine connection with each other in therapy will hopefully make it possible for you to work toward changes or make what you cannot change easier to bear.

What is the best therapy for addiction?
Addiction treatment will be tailored to the individual. People seeking help for addiction—whether with a psychotherapist, in an outpatient clinic, or in a residential program—should expect to engage in multiple types of treatments, sometimes including medication. For anyone recovering from addiction, avoiding situations in which one has typically used a substance is essential, as is the support of close connections. Since substance use disorders tend to co-occur with underlying mental health conditions such as anxiety or depression, those must also be addressed as part of any recovery plan.

How long does therapy for addiction take?
There is no set timeline for recovery from addiction. Patients and their families should expect the work to last several months, if not longer. Residential treatment programs may be based on a stay of 30, 60, or 90 days, with continuing work after release, but only about 1 percent of people are treated in such facilities. Ceasing use is just the first step; therapy to help maintain abstinence and effect behavior change must follow. The process of recovery, neuroscience has shown, involves brain cells recovering the capacity to respond to natural sources of reward and restore control over the impulse to use. Another definition of recovery is restoring voluntary control over one’s substance use and retaking all of one’s previous responsibilities.

How effective is drug addiction treatment?
Substance use disorders are treatable and remission is achievable for many who seek recovery; by some estimates, more than three-quarters of people who become addicted to alcohol or drugs recover. But that success rarely occurs quickly or on a set timeline; relapse is not only common, but many therapists and clinicians view it as a normal part of the process—not always a sign that a person has returned to addiction, but a signal that their treatment should be adjusted to help them regain control. Overall, research suggests, five years after the end of substance use, one’s risk of relapse is no greater than that of others who had not faced addiction. Other experts believe that complete abstinence is not the only measure of recovery, and that, through effective treatment, many people can learn to control their use.

How can you get addiction treatment for someone?
The most important factor in recovery from addiction is widely understood to be an individual’s commitment to change. For that reason,“interventions” in which friends and family gather to urge or force someone to begin immediate treatment often backfire; even when such efforts do lead someone to begin treatment, they may be less likely to stay than those who are self-driven. Still, family members can play an important role in supporting an individual who seeks help and can take part in family therapy as one element of a loved one’s treatment.
