Counselling in Canterbury
We are all unique but our shared humanity means that we all struggle. With over 40yrs experience of working in mental health I have learnt that one of the most helpful interventions for a human in distress is to help them clarify their values and to use this information as leverage to facilitate the inevitable behavioural change that is needed for a life lived well. I have found that combining CBT with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) promotes symptom reduction but also helps patient's to reconnect with what is important in their lives. If you're reading this I'm guessing you're feeling stuck-maybe I can help with that.

With a passion for helping those experiencing low self-esteem, anxiety, loss of personal identity and low mood, my counselling training, experiences and background in health and well-being provides me with the understanding of how important it is to work with others in a way best suited to their needs. I am able to use individually tailored, methods helping clients rediscover their core values & beliefs, empowering them to be self-assured and have confidence in achieving their goals. Expectations from society & others can put pressure on us to be who they think we should be, leading us to lose touch with our core values and beliefs.

If you have come to a point in your life where things have become too much and you feel you or a member of your family need some extra support, then counselling is a great way to reach out. Through building an honest and trustworthy relationship, I aim to help my clients understand and overcome their difficulties whilst developing tools to help them in the future. I am an integrative counsellor, which means I draw from a number of different approaches to counselling. This allows for an open space where we can explore different ideas and find what works best for you. This may include creative work, looking at theory, or mindfulness.

Welcome to my profile page. I appreciate that taking those first steps to see a therapist can be scary. We may have fears of being judged, concerns that it might not work out, and with so many therapists out there how do we pick the right one?! These are all perfectly normal thoughts and feelings to have. I will provide a non judgmental, safe space to help you explore the relationship between your thoughts, feelings and behaviours, to help you reach your goals. I have over 15 years experience working in mental health and substance misuse services and am fully accredited with the BABCP.

Most of us will experience sexual and relationship difficulties at some point in our lives and yet it can still be very challenging and embarrassing discussing them. Talking to an experienced and qualified psychosexual and relationship therapist can help you identify the difficulties you are experiencing, understand and explore different ways you can overcome these challenges and move forward. I aim to create a confidential and safe place where you feel able to talk about these issues in a non-shaming way. I am a sex positive therapist and I am comfortable exploring alternative sexual interests.

There's a first time for everything. Most newcomers to counselling & psychotherapy start out feeling a little intimidated by the idea of this rather mysterious process. I aim to demystify what I do - clients often comment on what they describe as a down-to-earth and accessible approach. My aim is ultimately to help you understand yourself and your behaviour. I feel that goal is best achieved by working in a non-threatening, straightforward and inclusive way.

I hold a BA(Hons) in integrative relational counselling and a registered member of BACP. I have a number of years of experience working in the charity and private sector, supporting clients with a wide range of emotional issues. At the heart of my counselling practice is the aim to provide a space where you can come to breathe, to be, and find unconditional acceptance, positive reflection and discover alternative narratives and perspectives for yourself. A relationship that enables that to occur, allows for the development of self-awareness, self- acceptance, hope and healing.

People seek counselling for many different reasons. Often it's because they are struggling to resolve something in their life, their relationships or themselves. They may be feeling stuck, weighed-down, confused, anxious or depressed. Whatever the reason, I see counselling as an opportunity to explore this in a safe, confidential and non-judgemental relationship. Through exploration, self-understanding and awareness, we can increase our capacity to be in healthy relationship with ourselves and other people. This broadens our self-perception, increasing our ability to respond in our lives in healthy, flexible ways.

I work well with clients who have already begun their journey of self-discovery and healing, who are curious about themselves and are open to trying new things. Perhaps you have already experienced psychotherapy and you did not get from it quite what you hoped. My clients often report difficulties in their relationships, self-limiting beliefs, anxiety, depression, bereavement or unacknowledged and unresolved childhood trauma. I am interested in spirituality, sexuality, polyamory, parts work, generational trauma, dysfunctional family life, the nervous system, self-harm, developmental and event trauma, relational and somatic work.

Hi I offer an online counselling and psychotherapy service embracing modern trauma-focused therapies to help you heal yourself from past and present emotional and psychological problems. In a friendly way, we can work together to promote and restore your health and well-being. I use a combination of modern trauma therapies called EMDR (eye-movement desensitisation and reprocessing) and IFS (Internal Family Systems' therapy). Arguably this is the most modern approach to healing your mental and physical health - seeing therapy as a treatment and recovery from 'emotional trauma' or wounds in your mind and body.
