Counselling in Canterbury
Hi, I’m Emma and I understand life can be challenging, confusing, overwhelming, stressful and often very difficult at times. Sometimes life can just get on top of us, and sometimes something happens to trigger us. Either way, you don’t have to manage this on your own. I understand that coping with the pressures of daily life alongside your own internal struggles can be difficult. I can help you to work through your thoughts, feelings, behaviours and emotions; to help you make sense of your world. I use an integrative approach, I use a range of methods to assist me in my practice, selecting those which are best suited for you.

I believe that therapy can be life changing and, more importantly, life improving. This is because I know that everyone can grow and develop and therefore benefit from counselling, whether you are trying to resolve trauma or to work through the never-ending challenges that life seems to throw at you. I believe that therapy is an investment in yourself - it is not selfish to look after yourself or to talk about your mental health and well-being.

Our earlier experiences often continue to impact our adult lives and ability to make and sustain healthy, emotionally secure relationships.
The behaviours we learnt as children to feel seen, safe and heard and our needs met may no longer work for us as adults often leading to increased emotional distress.
Therapy can help us develop new patterns of relating enabling emotional safety and security within our relationships.
Although psychoanalytically trained my clinical practice is predominately psychodynamic, attachment and trauma informed.
I offer therapeutic support to individuals, couples, families and groups.

Have you ever felt that nobody really gets you? Have you ever been thinking I just do not fit in? If only someone would understand you! I know how lonely that can feel. When we find ourselves making the same mistakes over and over again despite following advice from our family or friends, its time to reach out to someone who can give you a better understanding why do we make the choices we make and how can we break the cycle of bad decisions.
