I work online, face-to-face and have some flexibility to create a framework for support that works for you
Hi there. You know deep within you that things can be different: how you see your self and others or the stories that you tell about your life. Indeed, the ways in which you think or feel about events that have unfolded, your way of being, is to some extent shaped by the psychological adaptations that have occurred in response to living. I am a dual-registered counsellor and sport psychologist with 20 years' experience helping individuals to become differently; to attain margins that matter, and find what matters in the margins.

I have trained not only in person-centred, humanistic therapy but also trained as a supervisor of Guidance Counsellors as well as acting as a lecturer in Dublin City University in the training of Guidance Counsellors
I offer a compassionate, secure space for those who are seeking support with issues in their lives that are causing them confusion, conflict or frustration. Those who are feeling stuck and deeply desire to find a pathway in their life's journey towards a greater sense of fulfilment, peace and resolution. I am deeply aware of how challenging it can be for many of us to reach out to a stranger and to trust them with our innermost thoughts and feelings. The courage this step takes offers the potential reward of not being alone in your existential, unique journey towards enabling yourself to find the fulfilment in life that you need.

I have a few spaces available to see new clients both in-person and online.
There's a first time for everything. Most newcomers to counselling & psychotherapy start out feeling a little intimidated by the idea of this rather mysterious process. I aim to demystify what I do - clients often comment on what they describe as a down-to-earth and accessible approach. My aim is ultimately to help you understand yourself and your behaviour. I feel that goal is best achieved by working in a non-threatening, straightforward and inclusive way.

We are all unique but our shared humanity means that we all struggle. With over 40yrs experience of working in mental health I have learnt that one of the most helpful interventions for a human in distress is to help them clarify their values and to use this information as leverage to facilitate the inevitable behavioural change that is needed for a life lived well. I have found that combining CBT with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) promotes symptom reduction but also helps patient's to reconnect with what is important in their lives. If you're reading this I'm guessing you're feeling stuck-maybe I can help with that.

I offer flexible counselling options—online, in-person, walk-and-talk, or with a therapy dog—so you can access support in a way that feels right for you.
Past experiences can sometimes hold us back, creating unhelpful patterns that leave us feeling stuck. By gently exploring our current difficulties, we can increase awareness of these patterns. With awareness comes choice—and with choice, new possibilities for moving forward and living more fully. At the heart of this process is a relationship of acceptance.

My practice is based in Person Centred and Psychodynamic training as well as drawing inspiration from existential philosophy.
I provide the space for you to make the changes you want. Where you can talk through your thoughts, feelings, experiences and concerns, free from judgement. For some, this is in a therapy room and for others this can be outdoors. You choose the space to suit you. I focus on helping you to heal and re-energise. To become aware of personal strengths and also the barriers that may be holding you back. Together we work on how you can move forward with new knowledge and skills to live a more authentic and meaningful life going forward. To help you grow from your struggles, heal from your pain, and move forward to where you want to be.
