Are you struggling with yourself or life right now? You may be feeling stuck, overwhelmed, anxious or depressed , or even struggling with a life/work balance. Recent times have been challenging and negatively impacted many people. Sometimes, speaking to family and friends just doesn't seem enough. However, with the right support, you can definitely thrive, discovering your strengths and forge a more positive way forward. Imagining being the driver of your life, where you are in control, instead of a back seat passenger of your life.

I have supported clients through issues of anxiety, bereavement, stress, trauma, low self-confidence and esteem, assertiveness, depression , OCD, lack of fulfilment or motivation, emotional difficulties, life-transitions, different types of loss, repeating patterns of behaviour and work-related difficulties.
I use an integrative style of counselling that enables a more personalised approach for you as a client. Counselling sessions are client led, in that anything that is concerning you can be discussed, including things past or present, major or seemingly minor issues...anything that is causing concern. I care passionately that every individual understands their value, significance and potential, no matter what their past has held, or the nature of present difficulties.

Person centred approach to recurrent depression and long term conditions such as fibromyalgia.
Great, you have already taken the first steps for you. I am not the expert on you, you are. I am here to support and explore with you what you maybe finding difficult or just not feeling Ok. This may be in your relationships, in your physical body or you are finding both these things are overwhelming sometimes. Together we can wonder, ponder and educate ourselves and understand, why? Then we can make a strategy and build on your already available resilience (you are here remember), and improve this together. This maybe just a few sessions, sometimes just one or a little longer if you need this.

We will work together to develop an understanding of all you have been through and work on processing these experiences within yourself. Some of the reasons to come to counselling include; Sex or Relationship Issues, Gay and Bisexual issues or struggling to come out, Work Issues, Bullying, verbal, emotional or physical, Anxiety, Depression , Coming to terms with loss and bereavement. I am a fully qualified Person Centred Therapist and registered member of the BACP.

EMDR is a form of Psychotherapy used in the treatment of Trauma and Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and is also used with other issues including Anxiety, Depression and Phobias with adults and children.
Therapy can be a catalyst for change helping us to regain a sense of control in our lives and begin to live life more towards our true potential. I have experience of working with a wide range of issues that impact on clients' wellbeing, offering support, empathy and a safe space to share their concerns. I work with individuals, couples, families, children, young people on short and long-term contracts in Canterbury and Waltham. I use different approaches and techniques that are tailored to clients' needs, believing that we are all individual and that ‘one size does not fit all’. I have also lived and worked extensively overseas.

Depression Counsellors
Depressive disorders are characterized by persistent feelings of sadness and worthlessness and a lack of desire to engage in formerly pleasurable activities. Depression is not a passing blue mood, which almost everyone experiences from time to time, but a complex mind/body illness that interferes with everyday functioning. It not only darkens one's outlook, it is commonly marked by sleep problems and changes in energy levels and appetite. It alters the structure and function of nerve cells so that it disrupts the way the brain processes information and interprets experience.

Despite feelings of hopelessness and worthlessness, depression is a treatable condition. It can be treated with psychotherapy by depression counsellors in Canterbury. As with many illnesses, the earlier treatment begins, the more effective it can be and the greater the likelihood that recurrence can be prevented.

Psychotherapy addresses the thinking patterns that precipitate depression, and studies show that it prevents recurrence. Drug therapy is often helpful in relieving symptoms, such as severe anxiety, so that people can engage in meaningful psychotherapy.
