anxiety
, work-related issues, relationships, discrimination or situations affecting your emotional well-being. These issues could evoke worry, feelings of isolation or fear. You are not alone, by starting your journey with me, it ends with you. Creating the right space allows you to explore what has happened in the past and/or continues to affect you. Your issues may be linked to stress,
anxiety
, depression and relationship difficulties.
Hello, thank you for taking the time to read my profile. To introduce myself, I work online via videoplatforms such as Skype and Google Meet. It is different from working face to face of course. My aim remains the same as face to face working which is to offer a safe and empathic space for the therapy process to take place. During the sessions we may think about your current situation and make links to past experiences at times to consider the impact they may have had on you, and look for ways of moving forwards. I specialise in the areas of trauma,
anxiety
and relationship difficulties.

I currently provide CBT for a variety of issues, including; depression,
anxiety
, PTSD, phobias, social
anxiety
and low self esteem.
Welcome to my profile page. I appreciate that taking those first steps to see a therapist can be scary. We may have
fears
of being judged, concerns that it might not work out, and with so many therapists out there how do we pick the right one?! These are all perfectly normal thoughts and feelings to have. I will provide a non judgmental, safe space to help you explore the relationship between your thoughts, feelings and behaviours, to help you reach your goals. I have over 15 years experience working in mental health and substance misuse services and am fully accredited with the BABCP.

You come to me because you desire impactive integrative counselling and psychotherapy with aspects of personal coaching and mentoring. My approach is predominately analytical, seeking to identify and treat the causes of symptoms, both conscious and unconscious. Such insights reduce repeated patterns of thinking and behaviours that cause depression,
anxiety
and other mental health issues. With a background in philosophy, linguistics and the law we use a socratic but person-centred approach which established what you want to achieve before agreeing a bespoke plan for treatment.

I offer a safe space to talk about your
fears
/worries and explore difficult thoughts and feelings.
Are you feeling anxious, overwhelmed or worried ? Perhaps your mood has been low for a while and you can’t seem to shift that feeling. Sometimes life events such as losing a loved one, relationship break-ups, family problems or work issues can leave us feeling helpless. Perhaps you are considering help to untangle your thoughts. Maybe you think a lot about things that have happened in the past that still affect you. Sometimes there may be a sense that life is lacking in meaning and direction. We can all lose sight of who we really are and what we want from life.

I also believe you are ready to leave your
fears
and frustrations behind.
You know what you want to change or resolve, but the way forward is unclear and things you have tried before simply haven't worked. Emotions such as
anxiety
, sadness, fear or anger may dominate your experience. You may be constantly stressed, feel like nothing you do is ever quite good enough or that things are out of control. You may also be trying to come to terms with difficult events in your past or present, or struggling with creating or maintaining nourishing relationships. If this sounds familiar, our work together can give insight into why you think and feel the way you do and offer new and healthier ways to respond.

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioural therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioural Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.
How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.
When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.
How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
