Hi, I am Jo and welcome to my profile. I am a qualified and Accredited Counsellor and Psychotherapist with the BACP Integrative approach, believing 'one size does NOT fit all'. This approach gives me a variety of skills and ideas based on theory from different schools of thought, therefore allowing me to reach and help more people. I am also an experienced coach, particularly around relationships. Whilst there are definite differences between Counselling/Psychotherapy and Coaching, and there are professional ethics and boundaries I abide, I also believe that the two have similarities in enabling and empowering people to make change.

People come to therapy for many reasons. Sometimes it’s anxiety, low self-worth, or feeling stuck. Sometimes it’s not clear, just a sense that something isn’t right, or that you’re living in a way that doesn’t feel like your own.
I work with neurodivergent clients, including ADHD, autism, AuDHD, dyslexia, and dyspraxia, as well as LGBTQ+ clients, including those exploring gender, sexuality, or in polyamorous relationships.
Many people I work with have spent years feeling misunderstood or out of place. Therapy can offer a space to make sense of your experience, without having to mask, explain, or fit in.

Every individual and every couple is unique and for most individuals a breakdown or rupture in their most significant relationship can feel devastating.
After more than 20 years in practice, I now specialise in couples counselling. I aim to get a clear understanding of each partner, and, to clarify the experience of each within the relationship. As a result of our experiences in life, we sometimes find ourselves locked in to unhelpful patterns with the people we love the most.

You might be someone who does everything for other people, but ends up feeling burnt out, unappreciated and the bottom of the priority list. On the outside you might look like you have it all together, because you learned to survive by staying strong and keeping busy.
Many of the people I work with feel they have to prove their worth by doing everything for everyone and sacrificing their own needs. They sometimes struggle to recognise what their needs are.
Together we can look at patterns that taught you to self-sacrifice, help you recognise your needs and learn how to have them met, and build a strong sense of self worth.

Many people come to therapy feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or caught in repeating patterns—whether in relationships, work, or their inner lives. You may be struggling with relationship issues, anxiety, depression, stress, addiction, eating disorders, or a sense of losing direction during a life transition. Often, you know something needs to change but feel unsure how to move forward. You want greater understanding, relief from distress, and a clearer, more balanced way ahead.
