Life is a forest—ever-changing, untamed. Some paths are clear, others tangled, but every turn shapes you.
Even when we feel lost, the roots still hold, the light still finds its way, and every step leads us somewhere beautiful where the deepest roots learn to grow.
Walk ahead, where the paths unfold, and the peace is found.

Psychotherapeutic work is relational in nature and so it requires a genuine personal engagement. The challenge is having conversations that break us out of ourselves, our stories, dramas and fear. Psychotherapy and counselling are about seeing a new way of relating to ourselves and others, to life and to the world.

I love working with people who are openminded and honest and looking to improve their lives and explore some of their blocks. I have a lot of experience working with depression, anxiety, abuse, addiction and low self esteem. If you aren't happy with yourself or your life, I would love to find out why and help you to explore ways of making positive changes. I have transformed my life in a positive way so I speak from experience when I say radical transformation is possible if you are open to it. I offer a safe, non-judgemental space to talk about the things that are important to you.

Feeling down? Stressed, anxious or depressed? I can help. We all have our "stuff" - pressure of work, relationship difficulties, painful memories or trauma, feelings of worthlessness, difficulty sleeping, phobias: modern life can feel overwhelming. Just like our physical health, everyone has times when their mental wellbeing is not at its best.

Tracing Patterns, Making Changes.
My approach is informed by my psychoanalytic training through the Cambridge Society for Psychotherapy, yet I tailor our work together to fit your unique story and experience. I believe that while understanding the past can illuminate the present, what truly matters is how we work collaboratively to nurture positive changes in your life. Each conversation is not just an opportunity to revisit ‘old’ patterns, but to craft new ones—step by careful step.

My main areas of experience are in addiction, Trauma, destructive relationships, anxiety, low self esteem and lack of meaning. These are all behaviours that uncover deeper issues of what is going on. I use existential therapy and deep brain reorienting (DBR, a specialist trauma therapy) to work with you to do move away from the things that are causing you pain.

Right now you might find it almost impossible to believe life will work out for the best. Sometimes change just comes along but most of the time it's up to us to get started. That's tough at the best of times. Maybe staying as you are just seems easier or, perhaps, you've now reached a point where you want to change but don't know how to go about it. Starting out can seem daunting, a risk even. That's where therapy comes in.

At times, we can all experience difficult thoughts and feelings or a sense of being “stuck”: counselling can help us work through these, develop a better relationship with ourselves and those around us, and gain clarity and insight into the issues that are causing us problems. I believe that we all possess the resources to work through our problems, but at times these can become hidden and feel out of reach. My aim is to help you identify what you need and re-connect with your own resources.

When you contact me initially I will walk you through some of the options and if we decide to work together I will meet you (or you and your family/significant people in your life) ‘where you are’ in life. We may decide to focus on getting a better understanding of the ways that your early experiences have influenced the ways you perceive the world and relate to people around you. We may focus purely on the present and your goals for the future. Based on your circumstances we may decide to do some time limited or long term therapy.

Male Counsellors
As a man, why might I want to see a male therapist?
There are many reasons a man might wish to work with a male therapist, including a degree of shared identity, which may help client and therapist connect to each other and allow for a more free-flowing discussion of issues that can be deeply personal. Some men may feel more comfortable talking to a male therapist about relationship concerns, the pressures they feel around the roles society and family place on men, career or job challenges, self-esteem, or anger problems. For some men who have not had a male role models in their lives, a good male therapist may be especially helpful.
How can I find out about a therapist’s experience treating men?
Individuals looking for treatment should feel comfortable directly asking a therapist about their history treating men overall and the issues that arise in therapy with men. A good therapist will be happy to discuss such matters as well as their educational background, approach to treatment, and how they think they can aid a prospective client.
Can clients benefit from having a therapist of the same gender?
Therapy is not gender-specific, but some men as well as women feel more comfortable opening up about their experiences and history with therapists of a specific gender. An individual may feel that they have to explain less background information and be on the same page more quickly, particularly when discussing gender-specific challenges. That said, a good clinician can transcend most if not all gender concerns. Ultimately, the most important factor in therapy is the connection and trust the client is able to build with the practitioner.
Would a male therapist have specific training in treating men?
Generally, no. There are no certifications for treating men specifically, but there are continuing education classes that therapists may take that focus on treating men as a group. There are many therapists who focus on men and male issues in their treatment and therefore have experience and expertise in this domain.
