My work centres around trauma, developmental trauma, emotional neglect, the highly sensitive person and the capacity to understand and express feelings and emotions. Through working with body awareness, somatically and with mindfulness breathing, you will come to understand how these feelings arise and why your body responds and behaves in the way it does; why you say things and act as you do. As you become aware of the effect of this on yourself and others, you can make informed decisions and choices on how to change this so that you live your life fully and authentically to reach its full potential.

I have a particular interest in working with children and young people experiencing mild to moderate anxiety or low mood. This might be making school life challenging, or it might be affecting life at home or within friendships. I use approaches from Cognitive Behaviour Therapy which has a strong evidence base for treating anxiety in children and adolescents. Depending on the child's age I would either work directly with the child, or with the parents/carers.

I offer sessions both in person and online on a weekly basis.
As we travel through life we can hold on to habitual patters of seeing, thinking and doing which we needed in the past to keep us safe and secure in this world, but now are preventing us from living our lives as fully we would like to. Through deep listening to the mind and body, by slowing and down and bringing compassion to your experience, important shifts can take place that allow for healthier ways of being to emerge. Deciding to enter therapy and find a therapist can feel like a big step. I warmly welcome your whole self and seek to create a safe, trusting and nurturing environment for us to work together.

I see clients weekly in-person for short & long-term therapy.
I bring kindness and curiosity to our work together, creating a collaborative space where we can begin to make meaning of your experience. As we reflect on your past and present, your relational patterns and your ways of being in the world, space can be created to process the emotions that arise and to explore pathways toward positive change. I nurture self-acceptance and self-compassion, encouraging an interest in your feelings in the present moment and the truth of your immediate experience. Therapy can help you to process your difficulties, feel more connected, and allow for a greater sense of freedom in everyday life.

I am interested in the problem of how we might find ways of being with one another or relating, as well as how we might go about living and loving in a world that too often feels confusing, unpredictable and painful. My approach is informed by literature, Buddhist philosophy, the natural world and psychoanalytic theory. I am a member of the UKCP, the Philadelphia Association and the East Anglian Psychotherapy Network and am also a trustee of the Cambridge Psychotherapy Assistance Trust, which offers grants to people who may not be in a position to afford the full cost of psychotherapy.

If you are experiencing distressing symptoms in relation to ANY anxiety disorder - including phobias, PTSD, OCD and you want to make changes that liberate you so that you you can live the life that you would prefer then I can help. Sessions tend to last longer than the traditional hour (or in some cases 50 minutes) as I prefer to work without the time constraint and to give value for money.

Are you concerned about your or your child’s well-being? Is your child struggling at school, seeming withdrawn, low in mood, angry or lacking confidence? Perhaps you have been trying different ways to support them or yourself, but still find life overwhelming and long for real change? Are you an international student, navigating academic pressure while adjusting to a new culture? It can feel lonely to manage cultural expectation, language barrier, and pressure to succeed without the familiar support of home. You don't have to face things alone. Support is available; therapy can be held in both English and Mandarin Chinese.
