Most people choose therapy at a time when they are experiencing a “crises in meaning”, “crises in ego” or "crises in relationship". This is a call to action. Whether the struggle is to do with a relationship, depression, anxiety or adjustment to change, the person has a desire to find resolution or relief. This is a necessary process in the path toward psychological maturity, humility and self-acceptance. Therapy facilitates this process. I am a senior psychologist, in practice since 2005. I am trained as a Child & Family Mediator and completed a specialisation in Transpersonal Psychology which informs my approach to therapy.

Do you feel frightened that your world might fall apart if you look at your sexuality or gender? Maybe you have thoughts going round and round in your head, and feel like you’ve lost track of perspective. Maybe you: don't like sex/like sex 'too much' /wrong kind of sex? Your gender doesn't fit with other people's idea of you. You may feel you are betraying your family, children or culture by expressing yourself. You may believe that what’s inside you is too shocking, or wrong or too much for the people around you. You may feel like there’s no-one you can talk to, which can be very isolating.

I have been working in the mental health field for over 8 years. I qualified as a counsellor 2021 and have been in private practice since 2023. I am working up through the levels to gain a doctorate in psychotherapy. I am a humanistic counsellor who believes that you have the ability to change and the answers lay within you. The content of the sessions will be led by you and I will not make you go anywhere you aren’t ready to. We can explore childhood relationships or other traumas to help discover where any anxieties may stem from. We can work together to discover the right coping mechanisms for you. I look forward to meeting you.

Therapy is an investment in your current and future wellbeing. I join my clients in identifying the source of their concerns, and developing positive change. Whether you're struggling with chronic mental health stemming from trauma, or wanting to figure out why life has felt so hard lately, I am ready to listen with care and non-judgement. I have navigated a wide variety of needs with people who've never experienced therapy before, people who've seem to have tried everything, and people somewhere in between. Wherever you are, and wherever you'd like to go, we'll find the way forward.

I am an analytical psychologist, psychotherapist, and supervisor based in Cambridge. While I work with a wide variety of people who have a range of issues and concerns, each person who comes to see me is special and each problem or concern they have is unique to them. Some of the concerns and issues that bring people to contact me are deep trauma and feelings of desperation, while others find themselves faced with an unexpected situation or difficult decision or want to explore and develop a deeper understanding of their life experience.

Every individual and every couple is unique and for most individuals a breakdown or rupture in their most significant relationship can feel devastating. Most often couples come to counselling in the hope that they can understand how the deterioration occurred, with a view to building a new and stronger connection. For some, this may be the last resort and for others it may be the gateway to separation. Whatever the reason, whatever the goal, it is important to know this process is never about blame.

Is anxiety taking pleasure out of your life? Finding it difficult to believe in yourself again? Life seems overwhelming? I assist you in unravelling your troubles. Through honest dialogue, I will provide you with a reliable, meaningful, supportive and ethically confidential relationship. There are several contrasting approaches in the counselling/therapy field where I integrate powerful ideas from most of them in order to meet your needs.

There are times when we are overwhelmed by the challenges we face. This might be due to current situations and/or linked to past experiences and/or trauma. It might then lead to getting stuck in this place, finding it difficult to connect to oneself and others and live ones life in a meaningful way. In these situations, it can sometimes be helpful to explore options and ideas with someone outside the situation. One way of getting support along the journey is to engage in psychological therapy. My aim is to provide a safe space, to explore, grow and move in the direction that accords with your values.

I believe that we can create the life we would like, and therapy can help us to form what we'd like for ourselves. I work in a confidential one to one setting, to build a trusting relationship. I will listen and empathise so we can develop what you would like for yourself and your wider relationships, so you can take charge over your experience. I've been working as a therapist for the last 6 years.

It isn’t easy being the cycle breaker. Have you ever heard that you are ‘too sensitive’ or felt that your feelings are ‘too much’? Have you ever felt like you are the only one willing to acknowledge what makes everyone else put their heads in the sand? In your family, there may have been abuse, a lack of acceptance for who you are, or even just no space for talking about emotions. There may be historic traumas no one will talk about or patterns that go unacknowledged, and you are left holding the ball on everyone’s behalf. You may experience feelings of perfectionism, disconnection, or guilt about resting or caring for yourself.

Female Counsellors

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
