Hello, my name is Hannah and I use the pronouns she/they. Through my experience as a client and throughout my training, I am keenly aware of the importance of building an honest and trusting
relationship
with your counsellor and part of this is knowing that your therapist will accept you. You may find yourself seeking counselling due to low self-esteem, bereavement, stress, anxiety, sadness, loneliness, depression, shame, self-exploration, or any number of other reasons. Through counselling I can help you to work on issues which are causing you anxiety or discomfort at a pace which is best for you.

Whether you are troubled by
relationship
issues, grief, anxiety, depression or trauma, body psychotherapy can help you to come into contact with the parts of you, and experiences you’ve had, which have been ignored or closed down in order to protect you in the past.
Working with your felt-sense experience of the present moment, and with my support, body psychotherapy will enable you to explore your story and the challenges you face in your life. When we listen deeply to the body and allow what needs to be expressed to be heard and witnessed, the magic of healing unfolds. I work with intuition, somatic resonance, talking, therapeutic touch and energetic healing to support you through your emergent healing process.

Therapy is an opportunity to get 'unstuck', to reflect on our
relationship
to ourselves, to the world, and to others, in an atmosphere that is safe, warm and encouraging. Often my clients are high functioning, intelligent and articulate, but struggle in their emotional lives - they may feel overwhelmed or disconnected, and may struggle to break harmful patterns or make important decisions. Together we explore what is going on at a cognitive, physical, emotional and relational level, identify sources of strength and creativity, and allow space for different aspects of the self to be more fully known.

This service offers psychological assessment and therapy for children, young people and adults. We currently have availability to see adult clients only. People seek help for a range of reasons including anxiety, low mood,
relationship
issues, low self esteem or distress following traumatic events. A comprehensive assessment is always undertaken as a first step. This ensures clients have a good understanding of the process of therapy and can discuss in advance what approaches might be most useful for them. I draw on a range of evidence based approaches including EMDR, CBT and systemic practice.

Even at your most fragile, you can begin to restore a good
relationship
with yourself, find out what you truly want from your life at the life stage where you are and reconnect with your sense of purpose.
Life can be difficult. Talking with a counsellor can help you draw perspectives, skills and strategies from within yourself and to find in yourself sources of empowerment you were not aware you had to meet life's challenges and grow. 'Counselling Changes Lives' (BACP). When you invite a counselling
relationship
into your life, you and your counsellor create together a very safe space, completely of your own, where you can explore in total confidence the distress and vulnerability that are leading you to seek out counselling now, at a level which you perhaps could not share or bring to even those who are closest to you.

At times, we can all experience difficult thoughts and feelings or a sense of being “stuck”: counselling can help us work through these, develop a better
relationship
with ourselves and those around us, and gain clarity and insight into the issues that are causing us problems. I believe that we all possess the resources to work through our problems, but at times these can become hidden and feel out of reach. My aim is to help you identify what you need and re-connect with your own resources.

Couples Counselling
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
