I am a fully accredited CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) therapist with the BABCP, bringing extensive experience in providing therapeutic support within the NHS Iapt service and as an affiliate therapist in other IAPT services. I am passionate about helping clients overcome mental health challenges through a warm, empathetic, and compassionate approach. Building strong therapeutic alliances is a core value of mine, as I believe this relationship plays a significant role in enhancing client outcomes and experiences. While I have previously seen clients face-to-face, I now primarily offer online therapy (video, audio).

In our modern society there are so many potential situations where life can become difficult without warning. Some people may have experienced difficulties throughout the whole of their lives, some may have experienced changes to their circumstances that have led to difficulties arising in their teens, 20s, 30s or further into adulthood. Some people may not even have been aware that their circumstances and experiences have led them to a place where they needed help. Whatever a person’s life experiences, everyone deserves an opportunity to heal, develop a stronger sense of self, or just understand themselves better.

I work with adults who feel overwhelmed by life, work, or past experiences. You may be struggling with anxiety or depression, feeling burnt out, grieving, or stuck in patterns that no longer make sense. Often people I work with appear to be coping on the outside, while inside they feel exhausted, anxious, low, or disconnected from themselves. I offer a calm, safe, and supportive space where you can slow down and feel truly heard. Therapy with me is not about instant solutions or being told what to do. It is about understanding your feelings, gaining clarity, and creating meaningful and lasting change at your own pace.

"And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom." Life can be difficult at times and we tend to experience our greatest challenges when what we are doing is very different from what we would like to be doing. Sometimes our relationships might not be fulfilling or work can seem pointless or unsatisfactory. This can manifest in distressing thoughts, painful feelings and unhelpful behaviours. Our work together will help you to live a more rich and meaningful life.

Living with OCD can be overwhelming.
My mission is to help you break free from intrusive thought loops and compulsions, so you can live life on your terms again. OCD often starts with unwanted thoughts or doubts that feel deeply distressing. While most people brush these off, those with OCD often get caught up trying to figure out what they mean—leading to compulsions that keep the cycle going.

Extreme unease, feelings of doom, painful mental images, grotesque intrusive thoughts, distressing ideas, an intense need to engage in habits/ compulsions, and debilitating panic - these are just a few of the terrible shades in which anxiety manifests in human beings.
Owing to a fateful online encounter with Dr. David Burns, I have been introduced to the state-of-the-art in cognitive therapy. This framework is called T.E.A.M CBT, and has been shown by research to be extremely effective for anxiety, OCD, and depression. I am T.E.A.M CBT Certified, with a laser focus on anxiety and OCD.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Counsellors

How long does OCD treatment take?

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.

What happens if OCD is not treated?

Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.

Are there medications for OCD?

Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine, fluoxetine, and sertraline, among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.

Can OCD come back after treatment?

Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
