Life can be difficult, and humans are complex beings. It’s not surprising we can end up feeling unhappy, lost or overwhelmed. Dealing with emotions is an important part of self-care and counselling can equip you with the awareness and tools to be kinder to yourself. People often choose to have therapy when things go wrong, but you don’t have to be in crisis.

My approach is integrative, drawing upon evidence-based modalities including person-centred therapy, psychodynamic theory, and attachment theory.
I support individuals facing a wide range of difficulties and who are seeking meaningful and lasting change. Each person I work with brings a unique and deeply personal set of reasons for engaging in therapy, whether it be managing symptoms of anxiety or depression, navigating complex or challenging relationships, coping with significant life transitions, or experiencing a pervasive sense of dissatisfaction that may be difficult to articulate. My approach is integrative, and I offer a kind, welcoming, supportive and encouraging space, where together we can be brave and face the difficult things in your life

We can all struggle and sometimes it's difficult to stop and notice what’s not working for us. We can fall into repeating cycles of damaging or unhelpful habits, behaviors, and relationships. We can hold a negative belief system about ourselves which impacts our confidence and forms low self esteem. So if you feel like you’re surviving, not thriving; if you're feeling anxious & have low mood / depression; if you're having intrusive thoughts or wondering if you're experiencing OCD; if you're finding your work or home life stressful; if you’re dealing with family or relationship issues; if you're just not happy...I can help!

I approach our sessions in a person centred way, placing the therapeutic relationship at the heart, and incorporating other models like CBT and psychodynamic depending on your individual needs.
Sometimes life can throw us a curve ball, leaving us reeling and unsure which way to turn. Relationships, separations, difficult upbringings and losses can all cause tensions and heartache. If you are a young person, you might be finding school, friends, family or career choices overwhelming and confusing. In these situations, it's normal to feel anxious, depressed or stuck, finding ourselves getting upset over the little things, questioning our worth or wondering who we really are. I can help you to explore your troubles, find your true self, reflect on your choices and move confidently towards a healing outcome.

We all need someone to tell our story to. To be witnessed in what feels true to us, and then guided to gently tune in to what is really going on. When our hearts are open we begin to heal. I work with clients who want to go deeper on their healing journey, or who have found that previous therapy hasn’t helped as much as they’d hoped. I am an integrative counsellor and psychotherapist - which means I draw on elements from different therapeutic modalities, supporting you with a coherent, responsive, and ethically grounded practice, that honours your complexity.

Do you need help with a difficult time in your life? Are you feeling low or anxious, consumed with worry? Perhaps what helped in the past is no longer working. You may be feeling numb or withdrawn. Are traumatic events from your past resurfacing? These challenging experiences are part of us, and when we feel ready it is good to have help. I work closely along side you and together we find out more about yourself, what you want, what is blocking you and how you might overcome this. By addressing these issues can help remove shackles allowing you to grow and realize your full potential.

I bring together both Psychodynamic and Person-Centred counselling techniques.
With over 10 years' experience as counsellor, I am aware that finding your way through the challenges of life can sometimes seem like an impossible task. Often, we won't share our experience with others because we don't want to be a burden or, we are fearful of being judged. As your counsellor I will offer you the time and space for you to reflect on your feelings, as you process what is going on for you. Our relationship will be one where you feel heard, valued and supported on your journey of self-discovery.

People come to psychotherapy for all kinds of different reasons. Perhaps a particular issue is making life very difficult, or maybe you have more general feelings of discontentment, unease or unhappiness that you want to address. One-to-one psychotherapy can help by providing a safe, therapeutic space in which you feel able to explore and express difficult thoughts, feelings and memories. This process of deep exploration helps you to grow and develop in areas that have previously felt stuck, painful or difficult to resolve.

As a therapist with experience working in the NHS and in private practice, I specialise in Anxiety (GAD, Social Anxiety, OCD and Panic Disorder), Addiction, Depression, Trauma and Relationship Issues (Infidelity, Intimacy Issues, Compulsive Sexual Behaviour and Shame) . I am also LGBTQIA+ and Neurodiverse affirming. I believe that therapy should be tailored specifically for your individual needs. It can feel daunting sharing your problems, sometimes for the first time, and I like to work in a collaborative way, helping you learn more about yourself, your issues and developing strategies to manage them.

Psychodynamic Counsellors
Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?
Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.

How long does psychodynamic therapy last?
Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.

Does psychodynamic therapy work?
Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.

What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?
Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
