My name is Tiffany and I am a fully qualified integrative counsellor working face to face in Chippenham, Wiltshire and online. There isn't always a specific issue that will lead you to make the decision to seek counselling. Maybe you are exhausted but can't get to sleep because you can't stop thoughts racing around your head? Maybe you crave connection but find yourself cancelling plans because it feels like too much to be around people? Maybe you feel unable to trust yourself to make decisions because you are unsure of who you really are? Or maybe something just doesn't feel quite right?

I work with all aspects of mental health but with a focus on neurodiversity, infertility & grief.
Counselling can be life changing because having space to talk about how you feel is never a waste of time - but feeling anxious, depressed or unhappy is! Maybe you want to talk to someone but feel unable to share with family or friends? Perhaps you are neurodiverse or suspect you might be and would like to know how to manage your symptoms? Or maybe you just want to make sense of the feelings you are experiencing. You talk, I listen and together we find a new way of being.

Adults who may look capable on the outside but feel overwhelmed, stuck or under strain inwardly, or caught in repeating dynamics (internal, relational, emotional) are often drawn to my practice. This includes high-achieving professionals, creatives, and those navigating anxiety, burnout, trauma, relationship and attachment issues, identity or self-worth difficulties, and major life transitions. I offer a thoughtful, relational space to explore both present difficulties and the deeper emotional and unconscious patterns beneath them, helping you move towards greater clarity, resilience and lasting change.

Feeling Stuck? Not sure what to do next or what that may look like? Counselling can help by exploring the current presenting issue and reasons for its presence in the moment, with some past focus and exploration of the impact of the issue for you coming to therapy. I work with what you need in the room as I believe you are the expert of what is going on and using this to inform the way we tailor support to overcome what has brought you to therapy. I use an array of techniques to suit your needs working with anxiety, stress, grief and loss, relationship issues and long term illness.

Life often moves so quickly that we rarely have time or space to reflect on ourselves, our relationships, and the world around us. Counselling gives you the opportunity to slow down, explore what’s going on inside, and make sense of your experiences. While you may come to counselling with a specific concern, there might be underlying patterns in other areas of your life that could offer insight into why you're struggling. By exploring different aspects of your experience, we can start to connect the dots. This deeper understanding can help you see your challenges from a new perspective and help you to approach them differently.

As a high achiever you are used to success. You work hard, you enjoy work and you have meaningful relationships, but something is missing. You've tried all manner of ways to fill this gap - working more, working harder, prioritising your personal life, your health, your relationships - but it never quite fits. You wonder how you can achieve at work, but not in other areas of your life? Will it always be this exhausting? What if you could ditch the hustle and find a different way to show up in your life, your work, your relationships?

In addition, I have specific training or experience in working with: infertility, infant loss and miscarriage; pregnancy following these loss experiences; and parenting through adoption.
People seek counselling for a multitude of reasons... Maybe you are feeling anxious or depressed, you might be suffering a loss or illness, or simply feeling stuck. These experiences can leave you feeling isolated and helpless but this is where counselling can help. I am a warm, compassionate individual and my counselling style is both person-centred and trauma-informed. I also integrate a variety of other approaches, enabling me to be alongside you in a manner which allows you to feel fully heard and valued. I believe in, and respect, your inherent strength and resources even when these might feel impossible for you to access.

I am a Clinical Psychologist with over 13 years experience in the NHS, supporting individuals at some of the most difficult times in their lives. I specialise in supporting women, birthing people and couples, for whom difficult or traumatic experiences of pregnancy, birth, fertility, becoming a parent, and baby loss are common. This is an extremely vulnerable period in a woman’s life, with so much uncertainty and change to navigate. For many, having a safe space to be able to explore and make sense of their experiences enables them to make changes and move toward their goals.

Many of the people I work with arrive having carried something for too long. Senior professionals running on empty, whose sleep and sense of self have started to fray. Women with PMDD — the condition I wrote and published a book on — who have spent years being told what they experience is just "normal PMS". People living with the after-effects of trauma that never properly settled. What they share is being capable, articulate adults who have nonetheless reached the point of needing help. I work with all of that — at the pace your system can tolerate, with rigour, and without pretending therapy is a cure.

Whatever issues you are facing right now, I offer a safe, confidential and judgement-free space in which we can reflect on them and, by better understanding your conflicts and experiences, grow in self-awareness and autonomy. I believe in the importance of building a trusting relationship with my clients, so that we can work together toward constructing meaningful relationships. Talking freely about whatever comes to mind is the main way to explore what is beyond our logical, rational mind.

Infertility Counsellors
How can infertility affect couples and their relationship?
Clients who are dealing with infertility may experience conflict and communication problems. It’s not unusual for shame, blame, and guilt to arise in cases of infertility, whether the source of the problem is one partner or both. This means that clients are upset and pulling away from their partner just when they need them the most. Some clients may find it difficult to spend time around friends and family who are pregnant. Friends and family can also make hurtful comments that increase tension during this time.

How does therapy for infertility issues work?
The therapist will begin by gathering information about the client or couple and make a treatment plan for their specific concerns. In addition to addressing common mental health issues, such as anxiety, depression, and trauma reactions or PTSD, therapists can help clients improve their decision-making and deal with stressors unique to infertility. Some examples include coping with the “two-week wait” before a pregnancy test, the distress associated with a failed attempt or miscarriage, and the shame and blame sometimes associated with reproductive concerns.

What type of therapy is best for infertility issues?
Many therapists offer psychotherapy for individuals and couples who are dealing with infertility issues. Some helpful therapeutic approaches include cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), which can aid clients in reframing negative thoughts about their situation. Expressive writing and art therapy can help clients process difficult feelings. Clients might also benefit from group therapy to experience support from others who are dealing with the same problems.

How long does therapy for infertility issues take?
There is no set length for therapy that addresses infertility or reproductive concerns. Some clients might find it helpful to continue therapy during their pregnancy to have healthy ways to cope with any associated stress, anxiety, depression, or trauma. Some clients who decide not to pursue fertility treatments might benefit from the support of a therapist. The duration of therapy varies depending on the individual client’s specific needs and goals.
