I am trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), and I incorporate elements of Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy ( DBT), and Systemic Therapy (working with the family system) where appropriate.
Seeking therapy can feel like a significant step, and I recognise that reaching out for support isn’t always easy. My aim is to provide a safe, compassionate, and non-judgemental space where you feel heard, understood, and able to explore your experiences at your own pace. I’m a Clinical Psychologist dedicated to providing a collaborative and evidence-based approach to therapy. I believe that meaningful change happens when people are supported to make sense of their experiences, recognise their strengths, and develop the confidence and skills to move towards the life they want to live.

You may be feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or carrying experiences that still affect you today. Perhaps you’re living with anxiety, low mood, trauma, self-criticism, or simply a sense that something isn’t quite right. You want to understand yourself more deeply, feel calmer and more grounded, and build a kinder relationship with yourself. You’re ready for change, but you want it to feel safe, at your pace, and genuinely empowering.

If you’re struggling with anxiety, depression, loss, trauma, or another emotional difficulty, I offer a safe, understanding space where you can begin to make sense of what you’re going through and start the process of healing. Many of the people I work with describe feeling overwhelmed by their thoughts, stuck in unhelpful patterns, or weighed down by self-criticism or painful memories. Others find themselves disconnected from who they are, unsure how to move forward after loss or change. Whatever you’re facing, I will meet you with empathy and respect — helping you to find clarity, relief, and new ways of coping.

Many people I work with describe a deep sense of feeling misunderstood, overlooked, or different — sometimes for as long as they can remember. If this resonates with you, you may be wondering whether your experiences could be related to ADHD, autism, or trauma. Or you might already know these are part of your story and be trying to understand what that truly means for you. It can be painful to feel that the world doesn’t quite “get” you, to have so much happening inside, yet struggle to find spaces where you feel safe enough to be yourself. My role is to offer a space where you can feel safe, understood, and accepted, as you are.

Therapy brings clarity, helping you make effective decisions and positive changes in thoughts, attitudes, and behaviours. It's not about advice giving but creating space to talk, explore, and reach your own realisations. The goal is to feel more equipped to make choices and move forward with confidence and wellbeing. Hypnotherapy & mindfulness can be introduced as a type of complementary therapy—hypnosis promotes focus and openness to positive change, while mindfulness helps keep you grounded in the present.

What truly sets me apart is that I’ve been on both sides of the therapy couch. I know what it’s like to wake up with a racing mind, overwhelmed by the thought of facing the day. I know the loneliness of feeling invisible even when surrounded by people. I know the weight of intrusive thoughts and the relentless exhaustion of carrying childhood wounds into adult life. I’ve experienced intensive therapy for anxiety and trauma, and I’ve come through it. This means that when I sit with you, I’m not just relying on textbooks or clinical theory. I meet you with real understanding and absolutely no judgment. I get it, because I’ve lived it!

Life is difficult. Every day you face a thousand intangible threats to your mental well-being and self-esteem. Your brain reacts, creating a collection of sensations which we call anxiety. Sometimes you feel hopeless-there's no way out of trouble and you feel yourself becoming more withdrawn, isolated and depressed. Or, perhaps living with the person you love is impossible. Talking things over with family or friends can help. But you may have reasons why that's not appropriate or you need specific specialist help. Then is the time to speak with an impartial, trained, professional, in confidence.

Dialectical Behaviour (DBT) Counsellors
Who is DBT for?
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.

Why do people need DBT?
The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behaviour and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.

What happens in DBT?
Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behaviour, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.

How long does DBT last?
Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioural change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behaviour; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
