I provide CBT therapy for teens and adults, including people with ADHD, treating depression and anxiety issues (such as GAD, social anxiety, panic, agoraphobia, OCD, PTSD, health anxiety, emetophobia, BDD, trichotillomania, skin picking), psychosis, depersonalization/derealization, perfectionism and low self‑esteem.
If you find asking yourself far too often "what is wrong with me", feeling overwhelmed with anxiety and low mood, avoiding things, or lacking motivation and energy, maybe it is time to seek help. Something inside feels held back? Long to live more fully, yet find yourself staying at the edges? Perhaps you worry that you take up too much space, or that you are difficult to understand. You don't have to be in crisis to benefit from therapy. Sometimes it's enough to recognise that something just doesn't feel right, even if you can't quite put your finger on why.
Maybe you're struggling with anxiety that never seems to switch off, finding yourself stuck in the same patterns or carrying the effects of difficult experiences from the past. You might be feeling overwhelmed, exhausted or simply know that something needs to change. If you've never had therapy before, it's completely understandable to feel unsure about taking that first step.

We are all able to agree that our physical health is variable, but it may be much harder to admit that our psychological health is in constant flux. All too often, we find ourselves buying into the idea of the "stiff upper lip": that "mental health issues" affect only other people - and "weak people", at that! It can be very daunting, therefore, to recognise that we need help and then to take steps to find a professional who will help things improve. I understand those concerns, because I've been there: and I also have experience of the positive effects of psychotherapy - from both sides of the consulting-room!

I work psychoanalytically which involves paying particular attention to the words spoken and can reveal the unconscious processes that drive us. Each individual has their own unique response to their own upbringing and life’s circumstances.
Life may seem overwhelming and out of control following a recent event or trauma. Talking to someone and being fully listened to, without being judged, can be the start of a process of coming to terms with difficult and traumatic experiences.

I am an integrative counsellor, being able to look at a person as a whole is so important, to understand the past, present and future. It is really important for me that you feel safe and non judged so that we can truly explore and work on the problems that you bring. In the understanding we find from what is going on we can then look into what strategies and resources we can put in place to help you manage the present. It isn't about finding perfect as it doesn't exist but getting through life the best we can and counselling can help you do that!

My name is Rachel, and I am an Art Psychotherapist based in Colchester, Essex. I have an MA in Art Psychotherapy from Goldsmiths College, University of London.
I practise using a non-directive psychodynamic approach, which means you are free to use the art materials in your own way. This method encourages exploration of how past experiences may influence your current thoughts, feelings, and behaviours.
Through this process, we can build trust, self-awareness, and help you better understand your emotions and behaviours.

What’s the most effective treatment for psychosis?
The most effective treatment for psychosis is coordinated specialty care. In this model, a team of professionals works with a patient to address all aspects of the underlying disorder. This approach incorporates individual or group therapy, employment and education support, family support and education, medication management (which often involves low doses of antipsychotics), and case management to facilitate problem-solving as needed.
When should people seek treatment for psychosis?
People should seek immediate treatment at the earliest indication of psychosis. Symptoms include delusions, hallucinations, disorganized or blocked speech, and agitated body movements. Early signs that a person may be developing a disorder that will lead to psychosis include suspiciousness of others, memory problems and distractibility, an inability to think clearly, rapid or nonsensical speech, withdrawal from friends or family, aggression toward others, and sensitivity to bright lights or noises.
What if psychosis is left untreated?
Without treatment, psychosis can have significant repercussions, including injuries, job loss, homelessness, financial or legal trouble, ruptured relationships, and suffering for the person and their family. While early treatment for psychosis often yields the best results, there is no point past which it becomes useless to seek treatment. At any point, treatment can make a difference.
How do I get someone else to seek treatment for psychosis?
It’s extremely difficult to watch a loved one suffer from hallucinations, delusions, and other elements of psychosis—sometimes exacerbated by their fears of treatment. Have a conversation with them in a quiet space and maintain a calm, supportive tone. Share your concerns about behaviors you’ve observed, suggest treatment, and explain the potential benefits. Listen carefully to their responses. The person may not be ready after one conversation, but with time, they may come around.
