Common reasons for seeking therapy include depression, anxiety, relationship issues, decision-making, grief, trauma, childhood experience and eating disorders. These are in addition to those of navigating behavioural, existential and spiritual concerns. In my opinion, there is no situation, feeling or issue - big or small - that cannot be improved by seeking support.

I offer EMDR and EMDR Intensives, CBT and Couples Counselling therapy and the aim is to help you to regain a sense of wellbeing and enjoyment in your life. During the initial assessment we will work together to understand your main problems, what is keeping you 'stuck' and then agree on an individualised treatment plan to help you move forward with clear treatment goals. CBT is an effective treatment that can help you in the here and now and EMDR is useful for getting to the root of the problem. I find that both work well, in different ways to bring about an improvement in emotional and physical health.

Are you experiencing constant, low level anxiety?
Have you always been a 'worrier'?
Do you ask yourself constant 'what if' questions?
Are you someone who seeks out certainty?
Is this making you feel overwhelmed, tired and demoralised?
I like to work in a target focussed way, meaning at the beginning of treatment we will decide what you want to achieve from therapy and collaboratively work towards your goals; whether this is through the modality of CBT or counselling, we can be clear about what you wish to achieve from our time working together.
Please note: I only work with young people age 14+

I am an experienced and committed Integrative Child and Adolescent Counsellor. I am passionate about enabling children and young people to tell their stories, make sense of their inner worlds and develop the capacity for deeply fulfilling relationships. Using metaphor, imagery and healing conversations I help children work effectively with their emotional difficulties, which can be unbearable and difficult to understand. Staying present, attuned and attentive throughout the child’s personal journey, I am able to hold their discomfort, their sadness and their anger and stay with them in the process.

I understand that life can be difficult and challenging, and you may be struggling because you are going through a transitional period or feeling stuck which can be hard to deal with on your own, but it does not have to be. I provide a safe and supportive setting, free from intrusions and distractions that is confidential and respectful. Whilst maintaining impartiality, integrity, and reliability. "The journey to healing is a unique and personal one and you will need a guide, but the maps we are using do not identify the precise journey that we will take to get you there. However, I will be there with you to support you."

Clients have come to me for many different reasons. From dealing with past traumas, connecting with their emotions and understanding their reactions, to working on a better sense of self and building confidence. Each client comes to therapy seeking a safe and non-judgmental space to unpack their thoughts and emotions. They often come because they don't feel heard in their day-to-day life, or need somewhere to explore emotions without fear of reactions or feelings of guilt.

Often, life is full of ordinary trickiness that can be difficult to manage. It can be helpful to have a warm, compassionate and external mind alongside you to think about you, your needs, your current situation and what next steps for change might be possible.

Sometimes it’s hard to understand why things happen the way they do or how they influence the way we feel and see the world. Clients often come to me during periods of distress, and I have supported many who feel stuck, anxious, overwhelmed or hopeless. I walk alongside them with sensitivity, steadiness, and challenge where it's needed to find ways forward. We can explore how your experiences and past patterns may be shaping your present, and work towards new ways of living with clarity and self-compassion or just work on the here and now of what is happening for you.

Female Counsellors
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or because they feel more comfortable with a therapist of their own gender due to shared life experiences or perspectives. Considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender may matter or improve their therapeutic experience. The most important consideration is that a client is able to build a trusting relationship with their therapist.
Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist. For women, this could be because they believe that they will be able to better connect with a woman, and that a female therapist will be able to relate to their specific challenges and personal issues. It may be particularly beneficial for women to see a female therapist, for example, for gender-specific issues, such as sexism in the workplace, relationship issues, and gender roles. The most important factor in therapy is the client-therapist connection, and a therapist's gender as well as many other factors may play an important role in this.
Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.
How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
