My passion has always been people—their mental health, well-being, and the experiences that shape who they are. Life has presented me with many transformative moments, each one deepening my understanding of human resilience and strengthening my commitment to supporting others. Supporting those with cancer, chronic pain, mobility difficulties, and those in caregiving roles. A common thread among many of the people I’ve supported is the feeling of being overlooked or not wanting to burden loved ones—especially when challenges are invisible to others.

I specialise in providing evidence-based talking therapies for adults and older adults experiencing depression (low mood), anxiety, and stress.
I am a compassionate and person-centred psychologist, which means everyone I work with I treat as an individual. While my approach draws on evidence-based therapies, I understand that therapy is a personal experience and will take time to learn what is important to you and what you would like to achieve.

As a humanistic counsellor you are at the centre of my practice. Working with children and adults I provide a safe and accepting space to explore and empower your decisions. I understand that life can feel confusing, isolating and some events can bring up emotions you had boxed away, leaving you feeling overwhelmed. You might feel that you have lost sight of who you are or that people just do not hear you. Big life changes especially in childhood have such an impact on us, and it is about seeing these patterns and deciding if you want to change them.

Do you ever feel like you see the world a little differently — more deeply, more intuitively — but struggle to find spaces where that’s understood? Maybe you often feel like an outsider, never quite fitting into conventional boxes. Or maybe you’re navigating a transition, a loss, or a quiet inner longing for something more authentic and connected. I work with people who feel deeply — sensitive, spiritually curious, creatively inclined, or drawn to life’s mysteries. My therapy is gently informed by nature-based, shamanic, and mystical traditions, offering a space where all parts of you are welcome.

We all encounter difficulties in life, where some may feel more challenging than others to cope with alone. I offer a place to where we can explore such struggles that may cause us to feel sad, anxious and overwhelmed. These diffculties could be due to Relationships, Bereavement, Family Issues, Mental Health, Depression, Anxiety. Counselling can bring awareness and change to all difficulties that may arise in ones life through exploring these difficulties within counselling. I believe that is achieved by creating a comfortable environment and a relaxed atmosphere to work within which allows us to get to the root cause.

We all face different struggles in our lives. You may be feeling low, anxious, angry or lonely and you don’t know why. You may be struggling with a difficult relationship at home or at work. Perhaps your struggle is a response to a change, difficult event or a loss in your life. Your struggle may be something you’ve been engaged in for as long as you can remember. I believe that when we can take the time to explore our experiences and feelings, with someone who can listen with genuine care and curiosity, we can emerge from our struggle to feel better ‘met’ in the world, to be able to engage in our lives more wholeheartedly.

Dementia Counsellors

Can dementia patients benefit from counselling?

Dementia patients can often benefit significantly from counselling. While neurologists typically treat dementia itself, counsellors provide crucial emotional support for patients and their families. Therapists specializing in dementia can help clients navigate aging, end-of-life issues, social isolation, sleep challenges, and grief. They can also assist clients in adapting to the disease by addressing caregiving concerns and supporting family members. Counsellors will often also collaborate with a patient's neurologist or other medical providers to manage dementia symptoms and medication needs.

How can you tell if someone has dementia or Alzheimer's?

To determine if someone has dementia or Alzheimer's disease, there are several signs and diagnostic methods that medical professionals use. Early signs of dementia often include memory loss, difficulty with problem-solving, and challenges in completing familiar tasks. Diagnosing dementia or Alzheimer's requires a comprehensive approach, as there is no single definitive test, and initial diagnosis can sometimes be difficult as symptoms tend to worsen progressively over time. To make a diagnosis, medical professionals typically use a combination of methods, including standardized questionnaires and cognitive tests to assess memory, attention, and problem-solving skills, psychiatric evaluations to understand mental health status, brain scans to look for physical changes in the brain, as well as other medical tests to rule out other conditions.

What are the first-line treatment options for Alzheimer’s disease?

There is no cure for Alzheimer's disease, but catching the disease in its early-to-moderate phases can be beneficial in order to initiate first-line treatments to help manage symptoms. Medications such as galantamine, rivastigmine, and donepezil are examples of cholinesterase inhibitors that are commonly prescribed for Alzheimer’s disease. In addition, working with a therapist or social worker can also often help patients with the disease address common behavioural and lifestyle concerns, such as anxiety, depression, irritability, sleep problems, social support, and housing changes.

When to seek treatment for Alzheimer’s?

It’s best to seek treatment at the first signs of Alzheimer's. Early warning signs of Alzheimer’s include memory problems, such as forgetting appointments or directions, as well as trouble concentrating, paying attention, retrieving words, and carrying out daily household tasks. An early diagnosis can help people slow the progression of the disease with medication and plan for the future in terms of housing, social/caregiving support, and finances.
