I’ve also had a lot of experience working with trauma, sexual abuse past or present, domestic abuse, self-harm and suicidal thoughts.
I offer a calm, confidential and non-judgmental space in which to talk over whatever's troubling you, either as an individual (£75) or as a couple (£90). I am also a clinical supervisor (£60). Sometimes, people think their problems aren't big enough to warrant counselling, or are too big for someone else to cope with, but if there’s something that’s getting in the way of you leading your life the way you want, we can look at that together. Or there may be one particular event in your life which is affecting you which we can explore so you get a good understanding of how it affects you, and the changes you might like to make.

” My clients have included survivors of childhood abuse, neglect, sexual assault and those recovering from traumatic-based experiences that have affected their current quality of life.
The therapeutic relationship is unique, different to the ones we have with friends and family. It is a space where you can explore difficult and important feelings safely, with someone who is trained to help you make sense of these issues. My approach is integrative, which means I will work alongside you in the way that suits you and your needs.

I support adults experiencing anxiety, low mood, addictions, low self-esteem, trauma, sexual abuse, relationship issues, neurodiversity challenges, and those caring for a loved one with dementia.
Are you feeling sad, lost, or overwhelmed? You might be facing relationship issues, a traumatic experience, or simply feel low without knowing why. It’s not always easy to carry these feelings alone. You may be looking for a space where you can talk openly and honestly, without judgment. My own experience of being in therapy showed me the power of feeling truly heard and accepted. That experience deeply informs how I work—with empathy, authenticity, and a commitment to creating a safe, respectful space.

The struggles of day to day life can take its toll on our emotional & physical well-being. When we are stressed, anxious, depressed or having difficulty in expressing ourselves to others, then just getting through a day can feel like an impossible task.

Sexual Abuse Counsellors
How do therapists treat sexual abuse?
A good therapist will be nonjudgmental and possibly demonstrate active listening, repeating back what the client says to show that they have understood. These skills allow people to feel comfortable discussing their traumatic experiences openly. Some important treatment goals are to restore a sense of safety and to rebuild confidence. In addition to working one-on-one with the patient, a therapist might bring in supportive family members to assist the client.

Do you have to talk extensively about sexual abuse in therapy?
Survivors frequently find it difficult to describe what happened to them out loud. They can even still be in a state of denial if the sexual abuse occurred recently. It is important for survivors to acknowledge that what happened isn’t their fault and to challenge and reappraise any unhealthy feelings or thoughts as they arise. Art therapy and play therapy are useful non-verbal means of communication for some survivors.

How long does treatment for sexual abuse take?
Recovery from sexual abuse can be a long and difficult process. Some survivors are able to move on naturally on their own, given time, while others require the guidance of a trained therapist. Therapy needs vary and can range from a few sessions to months or even years. Healing from sexual abuse takes time, and everyone’s journey will look a little different.

Can trauma symptoms caused by sexual abuse come back after treatment?
As occurs in many cases of trauma, survivors of sexual abuse may experience PTSD-like symptoms long after the abuse has ceased or after an initial round of treatment has occurred. In such a case, there is evidence that prolonged exposure therapy is a useful treatment for survivors, and may be more efficacious than supportive counseling alone. While triggers may continue to cause distress, the idea is that, with time and repeated exposure, their power will fade, allowing survivors to move on with their lives.
