The ' transpersonal ' approach informs much of my work, and I use principles and techniques from; CBT, Existential Therapy, Gestalt Therapy, breathing and somatic awareness, object relations theory, early childhood dynamics as well as Vedic astrology.
I’m a qualified Psychosynthesis counsellor. Psychosynthesis is a broad and inclusive system which has many different techniques and approaches that can be tailored to you and your needs, given that you are unique! I emphasize warmth, kindness, sensitivity and empathy in my approach. I work with people who are experiencing; depression, anxiety, anger and rage, loss and grief, relationship issues, self-esteem issues, feelings of despair and childhood abuse and trauma. I have a lot of experience working with people to achieve real, concrete, lasting change in their lives - and have received plenty of positive feedback confirming this!

Within my practice I use aspects of the Transpersonal Therapy and Mindfulness where I feel that it would benefit to my clients.
My name is Anabel Olmedo Gonzalez (MNCS Accred) and I am a bilingual (English and Spanish) Person Centred Counsellor. I offer both short- and long-term therapy to adult individuals. I work face to face, online and by telephone. We all experience times of difficulty in our lives, and talking to a trained professional help us to make sense of those challenging times. I have learnt how important is this after many years working as a Social Worker in Spain and now at the NHS working in Mental Health Services.

People seek psychotherapy for a broad range of reasons. Often when other avenues have already been explored but perhaps you have been experiencing recurring and enduring patterns of behaviour and difficulty in some part of your life. Something needs to change.

I am passionate about Humans' ability to heal when they feel supported and accompanied on their personal life path. We all have greater potential and resources than we think. A lot of the times it is difficult to access this for various (and many) reasons... Fear, trauma, beliefs, illness... Transformation or change is possible. Sometimes we can "shut down" so much emotionally, that we don't even notice we do. Therapy can help with exploring our ways and difficulties to relate, and be in this world as well as what empowers us.

Whether you are curious to understand yourself and your behaviour in more depth, or in a place of despair, counselling can offer a safe space to be seen, heard, and understood. Together we can explore and understand feelings perhaps too confusing, conflicting, or overwhelming to do so alone. As we build our relationship and you feel safer to explore difficult issues, energy and space can be restored to grow new more satisfying and authentic ways of being with ourselves and others. I offer a warm, safe, robust, and psychologically informed collaborator with specialist interests in PND, ADHD and the mindbody connection.

Therapy is your time to be curious about how you feel and who you are. Part of the therapeutic experience is enquiring into how things are between us, working in present time to illuminate what happens in relationship. Together we create a space where your own wisdom and understanding can emerge using compassion and kindness. With the intention of bringing a new understanding and capacity around key issues we look at your reactions to situations. Working together we seek to use the present moment to integrate and metabolise difficult experience. I find using humour in therapy can be a useful instrument for change.

Humanistically recognising the needs of an individual ,we see how trauma can be held at a very deep level. Working from the story of an individuals early negative & positive childhood experiences and using Integrative therapy in a number of ways to help the process of getting to one's core beliefs, helps to create a safe space for them to explore and release old patterns. This happens by building a trust with the client to allow their vulnerability to come through. Then, looking at the blocks or defences, via counselling and body Psychotherapy, a unique holistic approach to wellbeing, allows the journey back to health.

I provide a safe and unpressured space where you can explore all aspects of who you are, without the restrictions and expectations you might feel in everyday life. Counselling can help you make sense of your feelings, behaviour and relationships. I believe this can be a process of growth and self-discovery. We often adapt our true selves to manage the pressures of life. Counselling can be an opportunity to say the things you may never have had the chance to say before and explore feelings that may have been hidden. It can lead to deepened self-awareness and can help you find ways to become 'unstuck' and move forward with life.

I am registered with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) as a psychotherapist in training, studying at the Karuna Institute. I offer Mindfulness Based Core Process Psychotherapy; this approach is holistic and an embodied psycho-spiritual psychotherapy that is underpinned by Mindfulness. Together we explore the parts of your life you wish to bring in a warm, confidential, safe and supportive space. As we progress deeper, awareness and understanding of how things are for you will be revealed as we move towards building a more accepting and loving relationship with yourself.

Welcome to my profile. There are various circumstances which might bring an individual to counselling. Some people may be aware of the cause of their distress e.g. bereavement or difficulties such as addiction that they would like to address. However others may have a feeling of unease but can't seem to put a finger on what might be wrong in their life. Whatever the reason you have chosen to seek help, I will provide you with a safe and confidential space where you will have the opportunity to explore your thoughts and feelings and we will work together to make sense of your experiences.

You maybe seeking support/help when things have become tough, difficult, or overwhelming that could be having an impact on health, mental health, on work, family, partner or affecting other relationships. Maybe past events are having an impact on you today in your life that you feel you need to talk about with a trusted professional, in a confidential way, where you will not be judge or criticised. This could be because you want to address issues around self esteem, sexual abuse, stress related work, health problems, trauma or bereavement. It could be that you need the space to off load, be listened to to find a new perspective

Finding the right therapist can be a daunting process. I believe that it is important for you to feel a positive connection with your therapist if you are to receive the most beneficial experience from Psychotherapy. I believe that the healer is within you, but I also understand that it is difficult for anyone to self heal without support. My purpose is not only to assist you with the healing process, but also to facilitate your change and growth and help you to naturally awaken your own life supporting behaviours.
