In Person Counselling in Bristol
I offer weekly, 50 minute sessions in person and online.
I am an art psychotherapist and clinical supervisor, informed by Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS).
I facilitate space that allows co-created sessions, that suit the individual needs of those that I work with. There is no pressure to make art within the sessions but there is always a selection of art materials, alongside other creative tools to aid exploration of your inner world. Through the therapy, my clients are able to build a stronger sense of who they are and of the patterns that have formed in their lives and to consequently, begin to make the changes in their life and in their relationships that they desire.

Maybe there are days you feel overwhelmed, exhausted, or just not feeling like yourself or who you want to be anymore? Is anxiety is making it hard to switch off, or you're being harder on yourself than you'd ever be to anyone else. Have you been diagnosed with ADHD, or suspect that there is more at play on difficult days? Whatever you are facing we can navigate that together, and explore new ways of managing, work towards realistic and supportive strategies, make time for self care, challenge unhelpful patterns and thoughts, as well as building a kinder and more compassionate internal voice.

We all want our children to be happy and to thrive and it can be painful for us if they are experiencing any form of difficulty: withdrawal, anxiety, anger or emotional outbursts. It can be confusing for a child to understand their feelings and to communicate effectively. Children and adolescents may struggle with low mood or anxiety for many reasons, including low self-esteem, insecure attachments, trauma, special educational needs, parental separation or bereavement. This can sometimes have a profound impact on family life, school life, friendships and relationships.

People come to psychotherapy for all kinds of different reasons. Perhaps a particular issue is making life very difficult, or maybe you have more general feelings of discontentment, unease or unhappiness that you want to address. One-to-one psychotherapy can help by providing a safe, therapeutic space in which you feel able to explore and express difficult thoughts, feelings and memories. This process of deep exploration helps you to grow and develop in areas that have previously felt stuck, painful or difficult to resolve.

Counselling and psychotherapy is about you: your concerns, and your wellbeing. We can talk about me, and what clients say about me later. But for now, let's establish how you can benefit from professional support...... Does any of this sound like you? "I want to reduce stress" "I feel anxious all the time" "I wish I was more confident and less critical about myself " "I want to feel optimistic instead of negative all the time" ...Or perhaps you want some direction in life, become more productive or improve your relationships?

I believe in the power of opening up, and while I will draw on theory and knowledge to support each individual, I am led by the client and their individual needs. An ideal client is someone who wishes to build a therapeutic space alongside me, allowing me to facilitate safety and build trust. I am interested in helping others to develop personal growth and insight through the relational dynamics they experience.

I work in-person and online, during weekdays.
We all deserve to have someone championing us.
I am here to offer caring and supportive therapy, where you can explore your challenges and build a life grounded in self-compassion and understanding.
You may be facing the pain of a loss or breakup, or trying to untangle patterns of anxiety or isolation, or simply craving a safe space to be heard and understood. My goal is to help you be 100% of who you are.
Therapy is a space to share, to be silent, cry, laugh, even be playful. As a gay man I have learned the power of embracing all the parts of who I am (including the messy bits!) and I want the same for you.

During the 25 years I've been in practice I've come to think of my way of working with individuals and couples as creating a unique space that is facilitating for recovery or growth. I draw on a wide range of techniques and approaches to fulfil this way of working. Psychotherapy and counselling with me is a confidential and non-judgemental process. I won’t tell you what to do but we will talk about whatever you need to and we will work on ways of developing a useful route through your issues, however difficult. (My practice is neurodiverse informed and kink friendly). I founded Attention Allies and remain a member.

Wellbeing therapy, counselling, is a strange phenomenon, as it requires you to step into yourself and express how you are feeling to a professional person who has trained in the field and is able to unravel what you are going through. I offer support, listen/hear what is being experienced with empathy using a flexible approach and work with what you bring to the sessions. I can offer a solution focused, collaborative approach which can include strategies and techniques, psycho educational materials, a creative self exploration so you are able to expand your awareness, be autonomous, develop self-efficacy to realise your goals.

Therapy is online or in person in a calm environment at Severn House, near Westbury on Trym.
Life can feel like you're barely keeping your head above water when you’re dealing with big changes, uncertainty, or emotional strain. It’s tempting to do nothing, convincing yourself that staying small is the safest option—but deep down, you know it’s not. It just leaves you stuck and alone. These moments creep up, showing as stress, overwhelm, fear, or anxiety that grows and can get too much. You might even notice it physically—the tension, the sleepless nights, the fatigue—or mentally through low mood, anxiety or both, as if your mind is on a loop, replaying the same worries.

As a play therapist with a background in teaching and a Master’s degree in Play Therapy, I am deeply committed to supporting the emotional wellbeing of children and young people through therapeutic play and creative expression. I believe in the transformative power of play as a natural, intuitive medium through which children can safely explore and express their inner worlds, particularly those who have experienced trauma or adversity. Throughout my career, I have worked extensively with neurodivergent children and young people, many of whom face challenges in traditional school settings.

I am available Tuesday - Friday ( face to face and online) and Wednesday evenings (online only).
I am experienced working with adults on a broad range of issues with a special interest in working with neurodiversity, particularly adult awareness / late diagnosis of ADHD, its emotional impact and affect on past and present behaviour and relationships. I also work with men’s issues, for example expectations/roles/identity, parenting, emotional awareness, expression and safety, and interpersonal and intimate relationships. In my experience, doing this work with another man can be especially meaningful.

I work in Bristol, offering a compassionate and confidential space in which to explore feelings and experiences at a pace which suits you. You may come with specific things that you would like to talk about, or you may struggle to articulate what you're feeling and why. Psychotherapy offers a space to uncover those difficult feelings and for you to be fully heard, perhaps for the first time. It is my belief that this kind of therapy can lead us into greater understanding and acceptance of ourselves, which in turn provides the opportunity for freedom and change.
