In Person Counselling in Bristol
Sessions are offered in person and online, weekdays by appointment.
I bring both professional training and lived experience to my work as a therapist. As a neurodivergent practitioner, I experience difference directly in my own life, and I know how it can feel to move through the world out of sync with expectations, with disconnection or overwhelm following close behind. My experiences of loss have also shaped a deep respect for grief, change, and resilience. I don’t see people as broken, but as meaning-makers in complex worlds. I offer a steady, relational space where patterns can be explored with curiosity, supporting a clearer, more authentic sense of self.

I'm a UKCP registered psychotherapist in training. My training incorporates mindfulness and has a psychodynamic approach that places the relationship between therapist and client at the heart of transformative change and healing. I seek to create a safe, empathic and non-judgemental space for you to explore whatever difficulties you are currently working with. I aim to connect and work with you to help you understand your present moment experience, and what may be underlying any distress or suffering in your life. This understanding can help identify where you feel stuck and what you may need to heal and thrive.

I offer therapy in person in a cosy, inviting space from my home address, or work online.
I am a UKCP accredited psychotherapist practicing a mindfulness-based therapy. I offer a warm, grounded space where you can slow down and be met deeply. Together, we can explore the patterns, relationships, anxieties and emotions that feel stuck or overwhelming, so change emerges naturally with clarity, compassion and lasting depth.
I recognise that it is not the model of therapy that brings about positive change, it is the quality of the relationship. I will not hide behind a professional mask and will allow you to set the agenda. My open and sensitive approach provides the safety for your difficulties to be fully addressed.

I work in Bristol, offering a compassionate and confidential space in which to explore feelings and experiences at a pace which suits you. You may come with specific things that you would like to talk about, or you may struggle to articulate what you're feeling and why. Psychotherapy offers a space to uncover those difficult feelings and for you to be fully heard, perhaps for the first time. It is my belief that this kind of therapy can lead us into greater understanding and acceptance of ourselves, which in turn provides the opportunity for freedom and change.

Hi I’m Carly. I don’t believe there’s a one size fits all approach to therapy so I will tailor therapy to you. I specialise though in working with children & young people and survivors of trauma and abuse. I'm really passionate about supporting people who have spent their lives feeling othered, silenced and ignored to have their voices heard. I have years of experience working for respected charities such as Off the Record, Women's Aid and Rape Crisis.
I’m also a believer in the healing power of creativity and play. I’m happy to work with you in this way if you want to though equally there’s never any pressure to.

I work holistically on your whole self - the mind and body as one. This is firmly routed in my trainings and experience. I have a relaxed and informal approach, which supports your ability to be truly who you are, in a non-judgemental and confidential environment.

My work is integrative (meaning I draw from different therapy theories), and is client-centred, at your pace, gentle and compassionate.

I offer face-to-face & online sessions, & EMDR work brilliant with both formats.
EMDR therapy can work effectively on a wide range of problems, by getting to the root of the issue & changing the way the brain processes past experiences. It helps take the emotional charge out of upsetting thoughts & memories, & changes negative beliefs about yourself and the world into positive ones.
Some people seek EMDR with clear knowledge of their difficult experiences, but many others have tried other types of therapy which have helped, but still have a strong negative belief, difficult emotion or troublesome pattern that feels hard to shake, and EMDR can help to uncover then re-process these buried memories

Humanistically recognising the needs of an individual ,we see how trauma can be held at a very deep level. Working from the story of an individuals early negative & positive childhood experiences and using Integrative therapy in a number of ways to help the process of getting to one's core beliefs, helps to create a safe space for them to explore and release old patterns. This happens by building a trust with the client to allow their vulnerability to come through. Then, looking at the blocks or defences, via counselling and body Psychotherapy, a unique holistic approach to wellbeing, allows the journey back to health.

Searching for the right counsellor can feel daunting. How do you know which one to choose, and who you will be comfortable with? It's a big decision. Let me tell you a little about me and the way I work. I am a dedicated and compassionate psychodynamic counsellor, a member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) and the British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC). I believe that our past experiences shape who we are today and that by uncovering and understanding unconscious behaviours and choices, we can gain insight and self-awareness, and light the way for future growth.
