Life can be stressful and full of uncertainty, so as a Counselling Psychologist I will use a variety of theories from my years of training and beyond to treat you as a whole person who is more than just their struggles, insecurities and pain. Therapy can help you deeply explore your past or give you tools to cope better in the present. It can allow someone else to understand you so that eventually you can understand yourself. I am a relatable and down to earth person and my aim is to make you feel safe, listened to, valued and understood so that you can build self-awareness, self-compassion and self-acceptance.

I offer families, couples and individuals flexible, in person, online or 'hybrid' sessions for those family members further away.
I am a qualified and UKCP-registered Family Therapist - we are also known as ‘Systemic Psychotherapists’, because we think about ‘systems’ such as families, couples and groups/teams. I have much experience of working with young people and their families, couples and teams from working in the NHS in Bristol-based CAMHS (children and adolescent mental health) services, but also through work with young people’s charities.

I have a working knowledge of 12 step addiction programmes and very beneficial in aid there if required. I will help you to help yourself, you're worth it. I always struggled to seek guidance and support around others as asking for help I imagined was a sign of weakness and I struggled to seek help. Today I realise that others can spot the individual seeks guidance and support and the only person that is unaware of this is the individual.

Using body psychotherapy (somatic psychotherapy), I will work with you on all levels of your being (mind, body and spirit) in a transparent, caring and empowering way. My focus is on supporting you to achieve the life changes you need to become truly happy, and on creating maximum value for you going forward (so that you can experience deep and lasting change). In my approach, I work by listening deeply to your life force and holding the space for your process to emerge, your inner child to be heard and all of your feelings and thoughts to be welcomed.

Sessions are available in-person and online.
Psychotherapy can meet our innate need to be heard and deeply understood. Together we can explore your sense of being in the world and process difficult emotions, recurring difficulties or questions. Working with safety and sensitivity we can also process early life experience, past trauma and complex relational dynamics. My holistic approach aims to work with the whole of a person - I work relationally and openly with you to build awareness of psyche, body, memory, energy. As you deepen your understanding of self, you may start to let go of old patterns, restore a sense of balance and begin to build foundations for growth.

We all have times in life when things seem to get on top of us. We may feel confused, anxious or depressed. Sometimes it feels like we are just going round in circles, getting nowhere in particular. Having someone to talk to can lighten the load and this is often easier with someone other than family or friends.

My life experiences and learning journey have influenced and shaped my passion for counselling. I feel privileged having the opportunity to walk alongside those who seek support. Indeed we are all different and each of our life stories are unique. Working with the pluralistic approach offers flexibility across every session but our work together will always be defined by you! My role is not to 'fix' you, my role is to listen to you, to learn about you and to understand you. I firmly believe the answers we may seek are held within us and the counselling journey provides a pathway leading to transformation and positive change.

With over sixteen years of professional experience, I am highly accomplished and have extensive experience of working in the NHS, MIND and Off the Record with clients with a range of mental health needs. I offer a calm safe space where together we can find clarity on what has brought you to seek counselling. At times it can be very confusing and frustrating when we can't make sense of our emotions and often feel stuck or overwhelmed. I work collaboratively, cultivating a mindful and inquisitive approach to understand how clients construe their inner reality and life experiences, which paves the way for more fulfilment in daily life.

Everyone deserves the chance to tell their story and be heard, counselling allows that opportunity. I believe we have the potential to heal, given the right environment and support. There are a number of approaches we can draw on in session to meet your unique needs. It may be that your past experiences are impacting your life today, or that you have a challenge that has arisen in current times. Sessions will help you discover ways to change negative patterns and behaviours, overcome challenges, safely process past traumas and ultimately feel safety in your body and mind. .

Most of us are taught from an early age that we should hide parts of ourselves to get by. As the person we are pulls away from the person we’re told we should be, we’re left with lingering distress and a struggle to feel truly connected and at home within ourselves. I believe the more we understand, accept and nurture ourselves, the more equipped to find the connection, community and purpose we’re longing for. Perhaps you feel that sense of struggle, or are feeling unmoored from the person you really are. Perhaps you're looking for support as you grow and find your way.

Creating a safe and secure environment is paramount, enabling children the freedom to explore at their own pace is so important. My primary aim is to first build upon a trusting therapeutic relationship. It is through this foundation, I believe, that will path the way to the child growing emotionally. I will seek to build their confidence, helping them to believe in who they are and knowing that they have the tools in which to help themselves.

Been feeling stressed, anxious or depressed lately? Struggling to cope with challenging changes or big decisions in your life? Do you need someone to talk to who is completely outside of your situation and can listen without judgement?  If you're someone who is ready to commit to making changes and trying new strategies that could have lasting results, but don't want to spend many months or years and thousands of pounds in therapy, then my therapeutic approach may be a good fit for you. My clients tend to make significant improvements and begin to feel like themselves again in just 6-8 sessions.
