I am a BACP Accredited Psychotherapist specialising in anxiety, depression, ADHD and couples therapy. In psychotherapy sessions I provide a confidential setting that encourages you to reflect on your journey. We will explore the feelings, emotions and impact significant events have had on the way you experience day-to-day life. We will work through your thought process moving towards the version of you that you've always wanted to be. Who is that person? Are they confident in themselves? And, do they allow themselves to smile, laugh and be happy?

I am a BACP Registered Integrative Counsellor and mainly practice Intensive Short Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP). ISTDP is an emotion-focused, trauma-informed and attachment-based approach with very positive research outcomes. Some people begin therapy clear about what they want help with, others need some assistance in understanding their difficulty. I provide a safe space for clients to better understand their behaviour and experiences by making links between the present difficulty and the past. We also work together in the session to help you explore new ways of relating to yourself and your problem.

You may feel stuck in recurring emotional patterns or relational difficulties. You might be navigating trauma—recent or inherited—or living with anxiety, depression, or complex mental health challenges. You may also be neurodiverse and seeking a space where your experiences are understood and supported with nuance. You’re looking for clarity, connection, and change—a safe, reflective space to explore your inner world, where your experiences are met with curiosity rather than judgment.

I work with clients who are facing difficulties such as anxiety, depression, or trauma, often rooted in past relationships and family experiences.
I work with adults in Bristol who may be struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, or difficulties in relationships. Using psychodynamic therapy, I offer a safe, supportive space to talk openly and reflect on how past experiences continue to shape life today. Together we can explore these patterns, deepen self-understanding, and find new ways of living with greater confidence, resilience, and ease. I see clients at The Practice Rooms in Westbury-on-Trym, Southville and also online.

I have supported many people through the fostering, adoption and kinship services, whether a young person who has been cared for outside their family, or the people offering that care.
Are you struggling with anxiety, depression, low self-esteem or maybe something else? My name is Andy and I will meet you with warmth and acceptance wherever you are in your life, without any expectation or judgement of you. Providing a safe and confidential space for you is paramount to me. I have found that anyone given an accepting space in which they are truly heard can, and does, benefit and develop. I am an integrative counsellor and see the therapeutic relationship as central to counselling.

I welcome clients facing a wide range of difficulties in their lives and offer a safe, non-judgemental space to listen and help you find ways to move on. You can bring all your feelings - whether anger, loneliness, anxiety, fear, shame, simply being stuck - and together we can make sense of where these feelings come from. In doing so, we can reduce their hold on you.

Hi, I’m an experienced Psychodynamic therapist and I presently work with adults and students privately and within the education sector. I understand that life can be challenging and it's not always easy to talk about our issues. I provide a safe and supportive environment where you can explore your feelings and gain insight into your life. Psychodynamic therapy focuses on unconscious processes as they are manifested in a person's present behaviour. It emphasises the importance of the individual's personal history and the role that past experiences play in current behaviour.

We often think of relationships as the intimate kind, however, relationships are all around us in terms of family, friends, school, work and much more.
People often reach out to therapy when they are ready for change. Some people do not even know what those changes might be yet. Your journey with therapy is very personal and you might be interested in understanding yourself better, or simply want a safe and confidential space to talk, get things off your mind. Whatever your thoughts are right now, I imagine you are hoping for something to be different in your life. I work extensively with Trauma, Grief, Anxiety, Depression, Chronic Illness and Chronic Pain. How different could your life look and feel if you could develop the understanding needed to reconnect with yourself?

Looking for a therapist can be an absolute minefield! I mean where do you even start? We all sound the same on here don't we. So why not jump on a free 15 minute call with me to really see what I'm like and if you feel safe in my hands? Now the blurb: Is your relationship feeling strained or stuck? Or has your sex life gone stale? Perhaps you feel trapped in recurring arguments, disconnected to the point of feeling like roommates, or burdened by infidelity, loss of intimacy, fertility struggles or mismatched sexual desire. Whatever the challenge, it can feel overwhelming—like there's no way forward. There is! I’m here to guide you.

I am Internal Family Systems Institute Level 1 trained and this framework informs my relational practice.
I believe in the power of opening up, and while I will draw on theory and knowledge to support each individual, I am led by the client and their individual needs. An ideal client is someone who wishes to build a therapeutic space alongside me, allowing me to facilitate safety and build trust. I am interested in helping others to develop personal growth and insight through the relational dynamics they experience.

Are you feeling low, stuck or overwhelmed? Perhaps you have managed okay until now in your life, or maybe you have been struggling alone with difficult feelings for a long time. Working with a therapist can support you to understand yourself better and experiment with different ways of relating to yourself and your world. I’ve been in practice since 2017 and fully qualified as a UKCP accredited psychotherapist in July 2022. My approach is Gestalt, which means as well as talking about your past and current life, I’ll encourage you to stay with your experience in the moment as you share with me.

Family Therapy Counsellors

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
